The importance of punctuation.

You are all missing the point you shallow trophy hunting cocks...... It's about participation and going out into nature with the wind in your hair and your bro's by your side..... lol Pease love

The two handed exclusion from the Tattersalls Cup is going to a protest tomorrow. I hope they win the protest.

Tasmania ain’t playing!
10 walkers from SA on Tasmania’s Three Capes Track have been escorted from the track to begin their self-isolation. 6 walkers on the Overland Track will also be contacted

Hmm, if you were a SA boat would you be reconsidering your delivery?

One hopes that the time on the delivery & in Sydney would be enough quarantine,  but if you are intending to fly in Christmas Day you might have problems.

Our (Sydney), boat was withdrawn a couple of weeks ago for any number of reasons,  so unless someone is desperate for some "grey hair" experience on board it looks like I get to watch it on TV,  assuming Channel 7 bothers with no Wild Oats!

There was a chance I was doing the delivery home for an SA yacht, seeming more and more unlikely now unfortunately. Ah well, maybe someone needs help getting back to the east coast then

Backflip coming soon -

Mr Gutwein said

"Subject to circumstances continuing favourably, we would hope that as of tomorrow those visitors [from South Australia] would be able to return to normal activities but we will provide an update tomorrow," he said.

They will probably film their start coverage live from inside Oats storage shed to maintain the required content and effective social distancing.

Looks like they were basing it on

(d) RRS 52: RRS 52 does not apply to the adjustment and operation of sails or to the adjustment of movable appendages

in the NOR which has been changed in an amendment to a boats rudder may only be operated by power provided by the crew for the fully crewed boats

Decisions are on the website.

Outcome as expected

AS protection racket continues.

Interesting make up of the Committee given the appearances for the parties.

It just shows your total ignorance of the rules and how they work.

The result was inevitable...and the real travesty was the about face so late in the game....the entry rules were clear right up until the Mafia started moaning....and suddenly the rules changed. So for those that bought boats, trained & prepped on the basis of being in the main event...only to have that taken away just weeks out?...well that's the standard of this race's management.

The only ignorance here is yours

Get back to me when you do some research and see the problem.

Yep,

And pretty much always has been the same. Quite strange that no other race has ever stepped up in Australia.

I think you’re all being a little harsh. It is the first year of DH. Can’t we cut them a little slack?

It might be a "first " for the asshats at CYCA...but DH has been racing world wide with technological support for years.....that is the issue here...that they didn't do their research, didn't judge the pushback from the local mafia and didn't hesitate to buckle. The result is that punters spent big dollars and prepped in good faith, only to have the rug pulled just weeks out. Harsh? They couldn't give a shit! Business as usual...bank the bucks.

Is this the formal announcement of your run for Commodore or will there be a press conference at the club with cake, tea and coffee?

Allowing DH is a huge leap for the CYCA. I’m not at all surprised by their decisions.

I sold my hat after they punted me, otherwise I would have lent it to you. You should get one for election poster photograph.

I am with the Catholic Youth Club on this. The S2H is the countries premiere sporting event. It can't be won by some fringe dwellers on their crappy little freak show boat. Having two middle aged chaps on a 35 footer beating 16 gym toned professional athletes on the TP'S is not a good look.

These people will just be a menace on the start. They probably don't even know the Port/Starboard rule.

To be fair, even the fully crewed 100andsomething foot J-Class boats get it wrong, if anything it'd make the start interesting now that there's only two supermaxis.

Also every time I see this a little bit of my soul dies inside of me

So LB,

Are we talking about the south of the boarder or north of the boarder Port / Starboard rules here ?

Afterall we may need to change the notice of race again to make shore they can keep the Riff Raff out of the race and only the Catholic Youth Club members and those in favour  can win the race.

Al lright then, let's go forward...

Last Hobart qualifier under way right now, Halvorsen Brothers trophy, 180 nm to Cabbage Tree Island and back.

Should be fun night, start in light N, cold front with ~30 tws through around midnight. For a change,  small boat should win IRC.

And the race tracker is working just fine!

The midsize boats are near the Island glassed out now, the big boats steal the chocolates again...

Good battle in the 60s, Whisper in front justifying the most recent $0.5m expenditure. Gweilo leading the TPs.

The minimum rater could still win, with good nne all day and corrected time for the biggest boats (Black Jack and Infotrack) up near 30 hours.

From the tracker and other sources, looks like wind down to around 8 overnight, but the ne flow today far less than forecast by any of the models, full overcast sky...

Very dusty around Cabbage Tree from first light on....

News Alert -  The race WASN'T won by a TP52.  Next the CYCA is looking into weather based handicaps so when the TP52's get becalmed off Norah Head they get dispensation.

Anyway what a fuckup forecast to what happened.  Feel sorry (not really as the crew have a cabin not a bunk) for Drumfire who ended up 2 miles north of Cabbage Tree thanks to the set, was a great finish surrounded by thunder and lightening was very very exciting, wanted to knock on wood not carbon fibre

Once again the BJ boys get to catch the bouquet instead of getting to throw it. Well done to the Quest boys and it must be comforting to know there will be no boats ignoring the port/starboard rule on Boxing Day this year.

BJ wins the start but Info chipped away at BJ all the way there so very close but on the way home i'm told the angle was perfect for info playing with weight in, weight out and 10 sail changes. The boys did a solid job and earned the win....The shut down sealed the results.
Congrats to Rupert on the DH win....
BTW solid crew on info with Nico and mutter who both know the boat well...

Great to see Infotrack take the triple. They obviously have the legs when the breeze is up and when they can use their beam.

Info must be a heap lighter  than previous years.. They  were smoking off the line. Also Gwelio and others have  caught up to Ichi  in the main race. (HCP) Going to be an interesting race to Hobart...at both ends. I hope the weather suits the little guy for a change.

Breeze was up and Infotrack smoked Black Jack and even gave BJ the start. Whisper got past Moneypenny after MP had a chute issue. Good to see Infotrack going well.

MP went for a deeper chute than necessary and got carted off to chowder bay.... poor Sean had a few fuckups like the pictures tell at the end.
Other than being 4-5 seconds early for the start, Info was brilliant and the footage of the first lap was great and really showed the difference. it was even good in the lighter puffs.
Shame that there was only 4 of them

Infotrack was nearly dead and buried a few years ago. It wasn't being given the love the other boats had. The RP Twins have had more plastic surgery than a Hollywood MILF. But she seems to be almost relishing the change in Maxi Scene? Who knows? I for one would like to see her do well given where she has come from. I'm not sure what they have done to the boat if anything other than sails?

Indeed, a good metaphor for old fat blokes around the world. A little bit of  love and we all come back to life at some point. A blue pill and off you go!!

It’s all about timing your run, just hope they haven’t ”peaked” too early.

Ha Ha for sure..! And it helps if the breeze is up too. I think we still know that Black Jack will be hard to beat if it's light. But nevertheless I'm sure Info-T will enjoy the new found confidence. Let's hope they have enough pills till a few days after Boxing Day.

That’s one way to say the other three (four inc Leopard?) didn’t show up. But agree Beck has had the best bang for your buck in the 100’ scene. Seemed to do better when Larry Emder was replaced with Chris Nicholson IMO. He just needs to keep it one piece & he’s got two SH podiums in 3 starts for cents on the Aussie supermaxi dollar at current exchange rates.

The new owner of Whisper has made a subtle change to the name of the boat.! Yes it was called "Chinese Whisper" . Perhaps a sign of the times.? Perhaps a co-incidence? Narr don't think so... I'm sticking with a sign of the times..... :D

He has spent a bomb with Cocko... (no one else was) and new keel so we will see how long he stays around after they all keep pinching his wallet...

i'm told (From on board) that Christian is so happy he will keep going and give the boat even more love next year. The crew also really like him.
The boat is only hurting in the under 6-8 knots like Comanche. Anything above and the boys seem to have the answers... I'd back them to win.

Oh dear god. Are people going to have to deal with another Juan K boat that isn’t hated by its owner?!?  I’m not sure they’ll be able to cope!

Surely they’ll have some liaison with CYCA & with Tasman Island or Iron pot ETA + Tracker they can meet boats.

Following the finish. each boat will be escorted to Murray Street Pier where they will be met by Biosecurity and TAS Health (or a TAS Health approved & trained representative) to complete health screening before proceeding to the dock for berthing

Anyone know who bought the PAC52 Rio ..?  It's coming to Australia according to the front page?  These things didn't ever get good press because of the politics but the concept of an ocean going Hobart style TP52 like Ichi ban makes sense. Off course the $$$ question is what does it rate compared to IB and how fast does it go.?
