Suck it up, buttercup. The "Buck stops here" has been a presidential motto for a long time.

No, no, no.  That was for other presidents.  Trump signed an executive order modifying that to "The bucks go here".  Emoluments be damned.

Speaking of incompetence, Huckster Huckabee (the original version) is back:

“Mike Huckabee Says Trump Would Be Vilified Over Coronavirus Even If He Sucked It Out of People’s Lungs”

At least he has the “suck” part right.

According to Mick Mulvaney, it's no longer the Dems, now it's the coronavirus that is trying to undo the 2016 election.

By then they'll have moved offshore. Everybody else needs them.

Just read a Fox article claiming  that severe outbreaks of typhoid & bubonic plague occur in Pelosi's district. Also learnt Bernie and the virus are responsible for the market fall. More such drivel can be found in Foxs talking points by Liz Peek "Desperate Democrats hope coronavirus will undermine Trump" and some of those points have been posted on PA by "non-supporters"

That nursing home could be fucked.

Adding to the concern, officials said approximately 27 of 108 residents and 25 of 180 staff have some kind of symptoms and are being tested.

Sure. But you have all the useless admins during the day.  And maybe lots of dining and kitchen staff. And then maybe some more useless admins.  108 pts is decent sized.  Especially if it's whats called a skilled nursing facility where pts are being moved with lifts and there are respiratory therapists etc.

P.s. that staff number might include part time help too. People they call to cover shifts.

Did anyone catch the fact that Trump referred to the victim as a wonderful woman when in fact it was a 50 something man?

He was briefed on it a couple of hours before the presser.  Probably wasn’t listening and rage tweeting instead.

Boot sticks the Boot in....

from Huffpost

Conservative columnist Max Boot, in his latest opinion piece for The Washington Post, argued the coronavirus outbreak is exposing the worst traits of the Trump White House.

“Diseases, far more than any human enemy, ruthlessly expose and exploit the weaknesses of their victims,” wrote Boot, who quit the GOP following Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory and has been fiercely critical of him ever since.

“Now the coronavirus outbreak is laying bare the pathologies of the Trump administration — which include compulsive lying, pandering to dictators, ideological aversion to ‘globalism,’ inveterate hostility toward experts and expertise, and (in a related development) sheer incompetence,” Boot added.

Boot explained how Trump’s attempts at reversing former President Barack Obama’s legacy may harm the government’s ability to contain the spread of the coronavirus, suggesting the “chaos president” will try to find scapegoats but “has no one but himself to blame for this chaotic response.”

“He can’t figure out how to spell ‘coronavirus,’ much less how to fight it,” Boot added, in reference to Trump’s bungled spelling of the word on Twitter.

“At a time like this, it would be a lot more reassuring to think that there were actual, you know, experts in charge of the government rather than ignorant ideologues chosen for their dedication to a supreme leader unconstrained by fact, logic or morality,” he concluded. “Where’s the ‘deep state’ when you need it most?”

Trump has it completely under control because of his most excellent brain and his superior leadership.  This is a cross between a press briefing and a campaign rally.  I wonder how much time is spent before the presser to instruct the other speakers on how to glorify Trump when they speak.  And Pence did a brilliant job of sidestepping his actions during the HIV outbreak in Indiana. 51 minutes of utter bull shit and absolutely no information of any value.  In other words, business as usual.

This shows that a failed talk show has some practical use- it helps think of it as an apprenticeship for political life.  In Pence’s case, a short Apprenticeship, but hey....

I’m glad you asked. The Ebola Protection Thread (which has a perfect record for protecting us here at SA, you’re welcome!) was based on information put out by various authorities to educate us about the virus and how it is contracted. With that knowledge, it was easy to put together a counter effect for the bullshit fear campaign that hit KMac the Clown so hard.

Where can we find that information for Coronavirus, so that we can know how to respond or what to do?

Slightly off topic. Have you noticed that the Trump admin has been excruciatingly slow to roll out testing.  Maybe they don’t want to test. Hundreds testing positive would only feed the Dem. vilification narrative.  Better to let people think people are dying of the flu.

Totally plausible for this POTUS.

I’m wondering if Julian Asante could successfully block extradition to America because the judicial system has become unreliable when handling matters which directly impact the president, especially when it concerns Russian efforts to interfere with the 2016 election.

Trump has shown no hesitation to use his influence over AG Barr, and views the Dept of Justice as a just another political weapon.

The precedent of directing investigations, altering their findings and direct intervention in sentencing decisions by this president makes this argument legitimate, IMO.

Coronavirus was probably spreading for six weeks, in Washington State, study says; first deaths recorded in U.S., Australia, and Thailand.

The novel coronavirus has probably been spreading undetected for about six weeks in Washington state, where the first U.S. death was reported this weekend. A genetic analysis of the virus from a newly diagnosed patient in Snohomish County closely matched that of a specimen from the first known coronavirus patient in the United States, who traveled from China in January.

The evidence overwhelmingly suggests that these cases are linked through community transmission, researchers say, and that this has been going on for weeks, with hundreds of infections likely.

The United States, Australia and Thailand each reported their first coronavirus-related deaths over the weekend, all in the span of about 12 hours. Covid-19 has killed patients on four continents, with the global death toll climbing toward 3,000.

The first U.S. death, in Washington state, was man in his 50s with underlying health conditions, officials said. The patient had no recent travel history or contact with people known to be infected, officials said.

Officials in the Seattle area announced two cases related to a possible outbreak at a long-term nursing home, Life Care Center in Kirkland. The elderly are considered to be especially vulnerable to infection. One patient is a health-care worker in her 40s who was in satisfactory condition, according to state health officials. The other, a resident in her 70s, is in serious condition.

Earlier Saturday, the Trump administration outlined new travel restrictions affecting Iran, Italy and South Korea in response to the outbreak, and President Trump said he was considering further restrictions across the southern border.
