Saving An Old Tiller

Recommended Posts

For bonding wood with epoxy, an additive only serves to make the epoxy less runny, reducing squeeze-out.  Colloidal silica (aka Cabosil, Aerosil or West Ststem 406) is commonly used for this.  Milled cotton  or cellulose fibers (aka flox or West System 403) are also used.   Don’t clamp too tightly.

Mat is not commonly used in bonding wood with epoxy.  Most mat has a binder that is not epoxy soluble, so it does not compress as it would in a styrenated (polyester or vinylester) resin.  It only adds weight, cost and finishing difficulty.
