And Trump Himself called his travel restrictions on some predominantly Muslim countries a "Muslim ban." So by your logic, it is one.

So in other words, you're claiming that because Trump waved a salami at a nail, the salami is a hammer? Doesn't matter that it not only didn't drive the nail, it never stood a chance of driving the nail, and the intent was never to drive the nail in the first place? But it's -really- REALLY a hammer, folks!

Was the "ban" based on nationality or on the likelihood of a traveler harboring the virus?

So glad I built a home gym.

Dozens got coronavirus from high-intensity workouts in gyms. The CDC warns that masks, better ventilation are a must.

In September, a Chicago resident called their gym with alarming news: They’d recently come to an indoor workout class despite feeling sick and then later tested positive for the coronavirus.

The gym quickly shut its doors, but it was too late. Fifty-five of the 81 people who attended high-intensity classes at the facility between Aug. 24 and Sept. 1 would eventually test positive. A similar case tied to three gyms in Honolulu over the summer resulted in 22 total infections.

Citing both cases, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday urged gym users to wear masks during intense workouts — even when socially distant — and asked gyms to improve ventilation and push for outdoor activities when possible.

In 3103 you asserted that the so called "Muslim ban" was based on nationality. Is that true or on the likelihood of a traveler being a terrorist?

In Post #3103, I made no mention of "Muslim".  It was a generic statement.

Is "Muslim" a nationality?

And, to be honest, since ALL of my comments on this topic have to do with the Travel Restrictions from China, that is to what I was referring.

It was based on which Muslim-majority countries had potential Trump real estate projects. "Make a deal or you get a US 'travel ban' on your citizens"

Are you talking about the US? Proper mask wearing? Hah. Everyone makes a big deal on TV about cases dropping, ignoring we still have more than the carnage horror days of March-April and about as many as summer surge. We never get to a low enough base before more gets "opened up."  People tend not to mask properly indoors among acquaintances. And I see them cluster talking for long periods in still air outdoors while their kids wrestle and tumble around...plus there is the nose peeking, the incessant eating and drinking unmasked, the travel with crappy masks...

The feeble elderly deaths of 2020 are being replaced with 2021 younger people deaths. The old are cautious, now it's workers and out and abouts that get it.

The N.C. health director has a nice saying... "We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we are still in the tunnel."

Zoom meeting today on yacht club policy, which is a big driver for our community's policy. Not final, but the general agreement was that small groups (10 people or less) of fully vaccinated people can now gather indoors. This included the reminder that you have not completed the full course of the vaccine until 2 weeks after the 2nd shot, and that current science indicates that fully vaccinated people can still transmit the virus at about 50% the rate of unvaccinated... ie you can still catch & spread it. The prohibition on bringing people from outside your household onto your boat is lifted, for fully vaccinated people.

I anticipate a lot of further howling on the part of people who just need to complain about something.

Still in the neighborhood of ~1500 people per day, dying of it. That's a lot.

And it's at a high enough plateau to reach a crisis quickly. Last spring, doubled every 2 1/2 days.

The Spanish Flu pandemic a century ago had several successive waves, each time it receded people thought "Hooray it's over" when it wasn't.

I hate to be a negative nellie but I really don't want people to start thinking it's all clear, when it isn't. Let's really nail the door shut behind this fucker!

108 illegal immigrants released by Border Patrol in Texas test positive for coronavirus, officials say | Fox News

Who's the Neanderthal now?

yes dog, it is all the immigrants fault.

7 days average new cases in TX is still over 7,000 per day. Still peaking around 280 - 300 deaths a day on Wednesdays and Thursday. Lets Partay!

hmmm those illegal immigrants just added 1.5% to Texas in a single day.

You do like to hype up stuff way off in the margins dont you?

Seems to me you are the Neanderthal.

Did this bring a smile to your face?

This week, after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said Tuesday that he would rescind the statewide mask mandate while the vast majority of residents remain unvaccinated, the tough choice to enforce public health guidance fell to business owners, and Picos announced it would continue requiring masks. But, after such a challenging year, the reaction to their decision was disheartening, co-owner Monica Richards said: Several people sent hateful messages through social media and called the restaurant, threatening to report staffers to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“It was just horrific,” Richards said. “People don’t understand unless you’re in our business what it felt like, how hard it was to go through everything we went through during covid. For people to be negative toward us for trying to remain safe, so that this doesn’t continue to happen, just makes zero sense to us.”

I don't know about Neanderthal (most of us have some Neanderthal DNA), but I know who the racist asshole is.

Pretty high odds that those individual caught CoviD-19 after they arrived in the disease-ridden shithole called Texas

Very few actual conservatives still speaking up. They may not exist, certainly a rare species and Dog is not even close to one.

Living in the past is not entirely bad. Dragging other people back to the past is pretty much entirely bad, though. Kind of the opposite of freedom, eh?

Demanding to "go back" to an imaginary past is very damaging, however. That's what Dog and his elk are trying to force the rest of us to do.

I think William F Buckley, Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan would get vaccinated.

They'd be lefties to morons like The Mutt.

He's more John Birch Society - or maybe even a tetch more right wing.

Not likely, they were tested as they were being released. A 6.3% positivity rate and this is just the beginning. Many more are coming now that Joe has encouraged them.

Wow!!! 108 of the 40,000 may have been those responsible legally released immigrants who had the sense to get tested before joining our society.
There are many ways to report the news about the positive tests our poster @Dogmentioned.
