jack_sparrow 7,613 #302 Posted August 28, 2020 @Hawke / @Flying Fish2 you are on a lying troll today aren't you prick. So far we have: Starting with: You have Professor Viner an academic paediatrician and adolescent physician who is NOT a epidemiologist STATING "there no risk to Covid-19 spreading" when HE DIDN'T STATE that. 5 hours ago, Flying Fish2 said: Pupils pose no risk to Covid-19 spreading says Government SAGE advisor Professor Russell Viner https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8608787/Pupils-pose-no-risk-spreading-Covid-says-study.html 5 hours ago, jack_sparrow said: . ..Viner is not a epidemiologist. Moving on: You have a Prof. Mark Woolhouse stating "the government had no idea what it was doing and so completely panicked with lockdowns." when he DIDN'T say that but giving the appearance of saying do by YOU sniping OUT what he ACTUALLY said. 8 hours ago, Flying Fish2 said: A medical advisor to Boris Johnson, Prof. Mark Woolhouse, a member of the Scientific Pandemic Influenza Group on Behaviours, has actually admitted that the government had no idea what it was doing and so completely panicked with lockdowns. “We couldn’t think of anything better to do,” he has admitted. 5 hours ago, jack_sparrow said: Mark Woolhouse said lockdown was a “panic measure” but admitted it was the only option at the time because “we couldn’t think of anything better to do”. You then SNIPPED OUT what he ALSO said. 5 hours ago, jack_sparrow said: That aside the "closest" quote in that article that matches the SPI-M advise to SAGE and Woolhouse's oral evidence to the Committee is a section you did not quote. It states; “My hope was that we would have learnt how to handle the virus better so lockdown would no longer be necessary." But we haven’t made much progress in finding a viable alternative to lockdown. My concern is that far too many people involved in managing this pandemic have in mind that it will somehow burn itself out. I don’t expect it to.... ...The professor of infectious disease epidemiology said that the Government must now focus on increasing testing and striving to unlock society safely rather than restricting it further..." In short you with selective cutting and pasting (with arguably the Express doing the same) totally misrepresented Woodhouse's views. Then when given minutes and oral evidence stating clearly WHAT Woolhouse HAS SAID you IGNORE that. 5 hours ago, jack_sparrow said: ...- The minutes of SAGE meetings are a matter of public record. - The House of Lords Select Science and Technology Committee took evidence from Woodhouse and others on Tuesday 2 June 2020. The transcript of that oral evidence is available here. That is just one of many select Committee hearings into the pandemic in both houses. NONE of the above contains advise from the SPI-M or Woolhouse that reflects what you have selectively copied from that Express article. The Express is not renoun for accurate reporting... You then complete your Bullshit Triology with a post where you are boxed in and you can't escape from by JUST IGNORING that too. 5 hours ago, Flying Fish2 said: Pupils pose no risk to Covid-19 spreading says Government SAGE advisor Professor Russell Viner https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8608787/Pupils-pose-no-risk-spreading-Covid-says-study.html 5 hours ago, Flying Fish2 said: .....The PHE report was released 12 AUGUST 2020! 4 hours ago, jack_sparrow said: The PHE report was released 12 AUGUST 2020!" 9/10 days worth of data - Low R. -70 cases in children; 128 staff -Staff rate similar to general pop - half of cases are isolated (i.e. 1 per school) The government announces the biggest single-day increase in coronavirus cases since 12 June Government falls short of contact-tracing target for ninth week in row. England's Chief Medical Officer Professor Whitty has said the reopening of schools will "put pressure" on the R number and could lead to the closure of pubs and shops at a local level. Keep up the bullshitting cunt. Leaving those EMBARASSING OMISSIONS behind, you then start a series of posts CLAIMING I have said "this and that" when I haven't. This was fone to DIVERT attention from the above. So that is why I say this. "I'm not interested in your opinion . Billy Bob 27 #315 Posted August 30, 2020 I lived in California for 50 years. I have never felt so free as to now be living in New Zealand. Even with high taxes and a socialist government this is way better than living under a Trump administration. The covid19 response in the divided states has been embarrassing. When we lock down here we pretty much all pull in the same direction. It's been a team effort and it shows. I worry about catching the virus but my chances where I live are pretty low at the moment. I think the government here is doing pretty well navigating the difficult times. We can as of today start to travel again freely about the country. I like the boarders being somewhat shut down and the fewer people that know we exist the better in my opinion. Our tourism industry doesn't think so but it's a much better place to be living with no tourist. Retired in paradise.

BlatantEcho 199 #333 Posted September 1, 2020 Interesting article about Argentina, one of the hardest lockdown countries - is experiencing a level of economic pain for tens of millions of residence. https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/08/27/argentina-economy-crumbles-buenos-aires-lockdown-continues/ Oh, and cases and deaths are rising rapidly too, so lockdown did nothing, and hurt everyone. Nothing was avoided, just delayed. Burying your head in the sand doesn't work. Imagine that.
