LaserTryKeel 0 #1 Posted August 27, 2020 Has anyone had experience with hydrofoils on Lasers??? I haven’t been active with my 1974 Laser. But in the 1980s it was modified with two extra sleeves for left and right dagger boards. Each dagger board had a controllable hydrofoil. But something was wrong with the design and in steady 15-20 knot winds we were unable to get the boat to plane. Since then the inventor friend has passed away but it did feel like being a Wright Bro. I’m proud to say that I bought the boat new at a Solomon Island MD boatyard and a Chesapeake Champ was my instructor.

David was unable to convince the NYYC to replace the bulb with hydrofoils. But they fortunately listened to someone!
