The petty past history squabbles and long held grudges are the most disappointing thing about this otherwise amusing forum.

You as an ex mod really shouldn't be keeping this shit live.

Couldn't  sleep…Full Moon, and all… You are one "bat-shit crazy" person yourself, B.J. Porter. Why do you insist on slamming Captain Gigi? You've been doing this for years. What's the matter with you (rhetorical question)? Have you gone off your meds again, or is this just the Full Moon talking? Maybe you just get off on knocking the presence of 'real women' in the Forums? Jealousy? This is the time of the month that you usually show your anonymous face. Menopausal, are you?

Hey, Robert (aka Shortforbob). Menstruation and menopause are perfectly normal terms used in discourse between women, unless B.J. isn't a real woman, just an ––hole, pretending to be a woman. Then it becomes problematic issue. Watch her, Bob.

His age and lifestyle count against him, but he's going to get loaded up with steroids, Redesivir, and whatever other magic cocktails exist right out of the gate.  The most likely event is that he shows mild or no outward symptoms while his immune system get sherpa-ed across the finish line by the finest in pharmaceutical therapies.  Its not April anymore.

Just like Magic Johnson and AIDS, high profile case caught early with aggressive treatment creates a remarkably different course of the recovery than someone wandering in to an ER after hacking up a lung for a week.

If there's justice in the world, Steven Miller is positive as well.  But that's just me being snarky.

You mean he won't get attention and sympathy?

He won't be able to boast the he was right and it wasn't serious, it's not serious?

He won't be able to say that it's like a mild flu?

You mean he won't be able to resign honorably so he doesn't lose ingloriously?

Dozens of reasons why he'd pull a stunt like this.

Of course. We get the last laugh when he gets a real positive test and we'll be delighted to say we're wrong.

The problem most of us have with understanding Trump is we apply reason and common sense.

On Presidential "Debates," Strait-Jackets,
the End of Patriarchy and Capitalism

October 1, 2020

On watching the presidential "debate" Tuesday night, I asked myself: "What was that?"  It certainly was not a debate nor was it in any way presidential.  It was indeed an experience of presidential barbarism, of an unhinged person on the loose with all the powers of the presidency at his disposal.

The person with whom I watched the "debate," who is not an American citizen but a green-card holder from the Philippines, commented: "The next debate Trump should not wear a suit but a strait-jacket."

Yes, a strait-jacket.

NOT just for Mr. Trump but for all the demons in the room with him who made him the human being he has become (and that hopefully, some day, after his sad empire collapses entirely, may experience a redemptive moment before he dies).  Clearly, the man is under great stress and for good reason.  The release of his taxes, a fate he resisted with all the legal minions and fellow republican party enablers he could muster, has clearly driven him to an edge.  I think he is up at night both twittering and imagining what wearing an orange jump suit will be like.

Among the demons in the room lighting his fires of rage and sadness of soul were his father—well known to be a member of the KKK, racist to his depths, brilliant at playing the money game and dodging taxes, who, as those who knew him best related, loved no one including his sons.  A sad state of family affairs indeed.

"Oppression." Image by Petri Damstén on Flickr
In the room too was Rupert Murdoch, father of Fox "News" and propagandist in chief for denial of climate change and enabler of others who for some strange reason don’t love mother earth as much as they do the power that money can buy.  In the room were the Koch brothers who devoted a life time to destroying the judicial system as we know it.
In the room too were Trump’s republican enablers, especially Mitch McConnell (called "Moscow Mitch" for a reason) who led 99% of his Republican senators to hold a putative impeachment trial without any witnesses.

But last night we were all witnesses: Witnesses to something very big: Patriarchy was on trial, patriarchy was exposed, its emperor had no clothes.  The essence of patriarchy is Domination, Abuse, Power-over, Bullying, Reptilian brain unleashed—it was all on full display last night—even the moderator was abused along with us citizens who had tuned in anticipating a presidential debate.
I know bullies; I know patriarchy.  I wrestled with Popes Ratzinger and JP II for 12 years; in their quest for domination, they killed theology and theologians (i.e. those who dare to think) in the Roman Catholic Church, silencing and at times expelling 108 of us.

Not just patriarchy was disrobed last night but also capitalism and what it does to the human soul.  By feeding greed and exalting it, capitalism steals the soul, deprives it of its powers of compassion and caring.

That too was on full display, the sad and small and angry soul of a life-long worshipper of money.

During the course of the outbreak, President Trump has expressed confidence that the virus would quickly go away and skepticism about the value of wearing masks.

Here’s what he has said about the pandemic, in his own words:

Jan. 22

Asked by a CNBC reporter whether there were “worries about a pandemic,” President Donald Trump replied:

“No, not at all. We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

Jan. 30

Speaking in Warren, Michigan

“We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five. And those people are all recuperating successfully.”

Feb. 14

Addressing the National Border Patrol Council:

“There’s a theory that, in April, when it gets warm — historically, that has been able to kill the virus. So we don’t know yet; we’re not sure yet.”

Feb. 24

In a tweet:

“The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!”

Feb. 26

At a White House news conference, commenting on the country’s first reported cases:

“We’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time. So we’ve had very good luck.”

Feb. 26

Flanked by top health officials from several government agencies:

“The risk to the American people remains very low. We have the greatest experts, really in the world, right here.”

Feb. 27

At a White House meeting:

“It’s going to disappear. One day — it’s like a miracle — it will disappear.”

March 3

Speaking to reporters:

“There’s only one hot spot, and that’s also pretty much in a very — in a home, as you know, in a nursing home.”

March 7

Asked at Mar-a-Lago whether he was concerned that the virus was getting closer to the White House and Washington:

“No, I’m not concerned at all. No, I’m not. No, we’ve done a great job.”

March 16

In the White House briefing room:

“So it could be right in that period of time where it, I say, wash — it washes through. Other people don’t like that term. But where it washes through.”

March 30

Asked whether mask-wearing could prevent transmissions:

“We haven’t discussed it, but we could. We are getting the number of masks you need.”

April 3

Speaking at the White House:

“The CDC is advising the use of non-medical cloth face covering as an additional voluntary public health measure. So it’s voluntary. You don’t have to do it. They suggested for a period of time. But this is voluntary. I don’t think I’m going to be doing it.”

“I just don’t want to be doing, I don’t know, somehow sitting in the Oval Office behind that beautiful resolute desk, the great resolute desk. I think wearing a face mask as I greet presidents, prime ministers, dictators, kings, queens. I don’t know, somehow I don’t see it for myself. I just, I just don’t.”

May 21

Touring a Ford plant:

“I wore one” — a mask — “in the back area. I didn’t want to give the press the pleasure of seeing it.”

July 19

To Fox News host Chris Wallace:

“I don’t agree with the statement that if everybody wears a mask, everything disappears.”

Aug. 13

Speaking at the White House:

“My administration has a different approach: We have urged Americans to wear masks. And I emphasized this is a patriotic thing to do. Maybe they’re great and maybe they’re just good. Maybe they’re not so good.”

Sept. 7

Asking a reporter to remove a mask while asking a question:

“If you don’t take it off you’re very muffled.”

Actually that’s as scary to a business or organization as the virus itself.   If small and without political connection, the forced shutdowns and CoViD pay  due to employees that believe their President is a frustratingly real risk each day.   Essential businesses are not immune, but big businesses are.

This.  If he can get a conservative Court with a selection of young justices, many will consider the Trump/Mitch partnership a success no matter the outcome of the election.  A few Trump supporters here see the only takeaway from the debate is that Biden would not answer the "Pack the court" question.  Based on that, they feel Trump clearly won.

On the other hand, they have been silent so far on their hero contracting the hoax virus.

what you should be asking yourself is what has America become when people are openly speculating if the President is lying about having a potentially deadly virus two weeks before an election.
