How about that Birth Certificate, Bullshitters? Any thought provoking questions?

She is legit, there is nothing to BS about...  Not my cup of tea politically. She spoke a good game about police reform as SF DA and CA DA, but her record shows differently...  And I don't think Isaac Espinoza's family is cheering this on.

Good on her though.

Well, this time around Mitch won't have to live in terror of being seen by his constituency talking to the POTUS,  only has to dodge the the vice-POTUS. Much much easier.

Mitch can't see the shit he steps in, I doubt his constituency can either.

Just saw her speech.  I'm not much of a believer in political speeches but I did get some goosebumps.  Maybe things can actually improve for the majority of Americans.

No doubt.  Let's hope GA ends the Senate insanity.

Right now Joe is giving a speech that is so refreshing.

It's hard to believe we can once again live in a world where our president isn't focused only on himself

Got to admit that she was not my first choice for VPOTUS. But everything I’ve seen so far indicates she was the right choice.  Obama made Joe an integral part of the administration and not just an empty suit. Biden will no doubt let her do what she wants to.  It will be interesting.

I’m waiting for the various analyses of what she brought to the ticket.  More women, more minorities, fewer old, fat white guys?  Trump’s improvement among minorities from his 2016 numbers might simply reflect a higher turnout or it could be telling us something else.

The huge bloc of middle voters who couldn't admit to pollsters that they are racists (more politely: scared of their own shadow) were never going to vote for Biden anyway. So no loss there. She likely provided a big draw for the huge bloc of voters who think Biden is about as liberal as Ronald Reagan was. Gave them a second reason to even bother voting. Same with certain minorities. However, Harris's asian/africans heritage was likely a negative for many hispanics who harbor much hate, jealousy, and racism towards their fellow minorities. Crazy. Too bad politicians and voters cannot simply focus on competent administration and the general welfare of the broader population.

This old, fat white guy went from "Oh, so it's Joe" to "Hell yes!" when she got the nod.

But it's possible I got a small crush on her when she made Brett Kavanaugh cry.

She doesn't have the chops for public speaking at this level. She comes off as a bit smarmy. Maybe in time that will improve. Have to think Joe will load her down with work, nobody his age can take on the the full workload of that job. What she does will be the key to her success, if she is to achieve it. Inspirational speaking ain't her bag.

She's better than Pence, although that's not a high bar. She'll do for now, and she can mature into the role.

Her rep in SF was tough but fair, and someone who was hard to fool. FWIW.  Winning general respect from the cops led to her becoming State AG. It was the combination of being for a lot of progressive stuff while also being willing to ignore some improprieties when it involved the swinging of a heavy hammer on violent criminals. She listens better than she talks.

Not to mention swinging that hammer at people who were innocent.

Quote

During her time as San Francisco's district attorney, Harris oversaw the city's mismanaged crime lab. A San Francisco superior court judge ruled that the D.A.'s office ignored demands that it take responsibility for the lab's failings, and that it violated defendants' rights by hiding information about a corrupt technician who had been stealing cocaine.

As attorney general of California, Harris challenged the release of a man who had been exonerated by the Innocence Project and had his conviction overturned. Harris argued that Daniel Larsen, who spent 13 years in prison for the crime of possessing a concealed knife, had not produced evidence of his innocence fast enough. A federal judge overturned his conviction after finding that Larsen had shown he was innocent, that the cops testifying at his trial weren't credible, and that his attorney, since disbarred, was constitutionally ineffective because he had failed to call any witnesses.

Still, the fact that she shares Trump's view of executive power is the most disturbing thing about her to me.

America was a 747 with 4 engines out flying over an active volcano with a drunk pilot and a blind copilot and porn stars for cabin crew.

The new crew has got one engine fired up and is working on the second. We should be able to stay out of the volcano for now, but a lot more work remains and nearly half the passengers have power tools and are still busy cutting up random parts of the plane looking for the pizza sex slaves.

Tom, I have to congratulate you for the consistent criticism of your boy Shitstain's use of executive power. Now I'm heartened to see that as the Fakebertarian you are, that you are already criticizing a Vice President-elect, two months before she's even sworn in, for what you say is her view of executive power. Bravo. Well done. BTW, I see that your boy Issa will be returning to the halls of Congress to search out injustice and malfeasance.

To be fair, a lot of Republicans are criticising Trump and his sycophants for their calls to commit mayhem and murder to disrupt the election. But many are joining in, or sitting silent (including our new Congresscritter, supposedly a medical doctor for fuck's sake).

The fact that so many people are apparently willing to riot in the streets on the basis of totally unfounded paranoid fantasy is a very bad portent.

It's impossible to bring rational government to an irrational mob

Watched the news from Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Georgia, over the past few days.

Gun-waving nutballs demanding entry into the vote-counting places qualify as a riot, to me.

Fortunately, it seems to have died down and nobody actually pulled any triggers.... no thanks to those fanning the flames....

Isaac Espinoza's killer was tried by Kamala Harris' prosecutors and the court then sentenced him to life without parole. She did not turn on the police. Harris opposed the death penalty before the murder and she opposes it today. San Franciscan, Californian and American voters have known about that opposition ever since.

FWIW...not to be pedantic, but PA was created years before either of the Ocean Racing or AC Anarchy subs.

It was literally the second sub-forum created to sort the political threads out that were making the original single sailing forum a mess. Hover over the link to the Sub on the main forum page, you can see the hard URL which shows the forum number.
