didnt feel a thing, friend phoned from Boston 5.30am to  check all was good (happened 2.40ish am) got a text from our ever vigilant civil defence at 11.00 am...ish warning of possible wave etc......

Was in Phuket living near the beach for the big one, about the same distance now in NZ. Shit some people can be drama queens. And the sirens blaring out for hour after hour, really, cut the power you dick heads. Plus the phone screeching on and on.

Really, isn't it annoying when the government is spending your hard-earned money just to try and save a bunch of fucking peasants.

Whatever Steaming pile. There was no need to have the sirens blaring out for hours on end. I know of one that is 300m from the sea and 30m above sea level amongst a group of shops. A tidal wave that would get there would surely need to be bigger than the 1m expected. Plus not many peasants get to live on the shore line in NZ, they tend to get the shitty areas.

But then again, as usual you know best, even in places thousands of miles from you. Thanks for keeping me up to date.
