Trump's gold-plated 757 sits idle at a sleepy airport

Glory days of Trump's gold-plated 757 seem far away as plane sits idle at a sleepy airport

Trump's personal Boeing 757 was always the crown jewel of his wealth -- the ultimate sign that he had made it. He's used it as a backdrop for sleek photo shoots, campaign rallies, VIP tours, for shots of him eating his Big Macs and KFC, plated, with a knife and fork. Trump loved to show it off -- the customized cream-colored leather seats, gilded bathrooms, the seat buckles layered in 24-karat gold.

But today it sits idle on an airport ramp in Orange County, New York, about 60 miles north of Manhattan.

One engine is missing parts. The other is shrink-wrapped in plastic. The cost to fix and get it flyable could reach well into the high six-figures, a price-tag Trump doesn't appear to be dealing with right now. Though the current state of his finances aren't public, the Covid-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the hospitality industry home to so many of his businesses.

Trump’s escorts will not lie down in a jet they cannot stand up in. Trump’s Citation X must be a squeeze for his corpulence. No way will he fit in the shitter. And only worth $1-2 million. What a chump.

With him onboard the plane has a distinct list to port.

His jet is 30 yers old this year, and a new RB211 Rolls Royce engine is $511,000. I am not an aviation expert, but it seems to me like that plane has seen its best days.

Is it possible never to have had a “best” day?

Or it's worst, most humiliating days.

Sure, I just read the A/W certificate (air worthiness) is 20 years old. Trump has a Citation X, you will never buy one for $1-2 million. They run $20million plus. The Cj1 is probably 1-2 mil. The Citation X is the fastest private jet available and if equipped with FADEC can hit 700mph or Mach .935. It does have a 5'7" cabin height and I would love to see a video of Trump boarding and moving his fat butt to his seat. Several years ago, I flew a Citation X to NYC it was a dream, and we did LA to Teterboro in just over four hours.

Blazing fast, unfortunately private aircraft are forbidden to hit over Mach1 (the speed of sound)

Correction: Trump has a 1997 Citation X it may very well be in the $2million range.

Forbes said it was high hours:

"According to Controller magazine, a 2009 version with 3,231 flight hours is currently on the market for $4.9 million. Another from the same year, but with 3,655 hours, is being offered at $2.7 million. The wide variance likely has to do with upcoming maintenance needs. Trump’s Citation X reportedly has over 10,000 hours.  Not worth much."  The maintenance logbook is likely a fraud...like his doctors.

Same with 757's. They scrap those regularly. Gold leaf is like a dollar a square foot at the most. Trump won't be buying an engine. Should have ferried it to a graveyard before pulling the engine. Idiot.

I can't get enough of Trump hard luck stories, I know that's mean, but it's so satisfying.

Clever marketing could make him a dollar or two.

Don't all US presidents have a Library? Not his thing BUT!!

He could fill it with little fast food franchises and charge idiots 50 grand for an all you can eat sky high coronary experience.

Depend on the Jet stream. You can get a 120 knot tailwind in winter. The roughly 2500 nm goes quickly if you are cruising at 480 TAS with a 120 additional push.

As to supersonic? Civilians can fly supersonic but not legal for anyone over land in the US outside of designated military training corridors/test ranges. Very high altitude (70-80,000’) a la SR 71 an exception. all about damage/noise from the “boom.”  Then there is the gas consumption. Takes a lot of dead dinos to overcome the drag.

How long does it take to fly NY to Moscow?

Needs to be non-stop to avoid those sleeping foreign indictments. Or west-about via the friendly ground of Alaska and Vladivostok.
