Big bayou canot, anchored a couple nights there bringing the bene around from st Augustine to TN.  Beautiful spot, lots of gators, a little eerie though.

Sadly, DP changing for the worse.

New Revitalization Plan: Fewer Slips, More Retail and Parking.

Up in Alamitos Bay the recent completed "remodel" was all about fewer small boat sips and more mid size slips. That resulted in fewer overall slips. DP doing the same?

YUP. But fewer small and mid size, making way for more accommodation for larger luxury yachts.

Same result.

YupYup. All about the $$$.

I predict that none-to-little of the "revitalization" will happen but much $$$ will be extracted from my pocket for my slip.  (Already went up quite a bit, and Dana sure isn't cheap)

Then, at some point in time, the private parts of the public-private farce partnership will declare bankruptcy and disappear.

Back to being semi on- topic:

Also kinda looks like Dana after the riprap went in.

Yup. From the patio of the Bearded Clam or Quiet Woman, me thinks.

Our family’s Ericson 35 was in slip (ISYN) DD40 back in the when.

Fellini was a master at using what were “odd” camera angles at the time and directing actors’ facial expressions for just the right result; Wells used the same camera techniques for Citizen Kane. That opening bit of 8-1/2 inspired the video for “Everybody Hurts”, REM.

When we lived in Avalon the coolest tourboat was the Blanche W.

The_Blanche_W.png

It would motor past us pulling a 3' wake on it's way to Seal Rocks on the East End with a shitload of people aboard.

800px-Vessel_Blanche_W.jpg

She was my local favorite until this happened...I kept my boat on anchor out at Pebbly Beach, just east of Avalon. One fine hot summer Saturday we were getting ready to go sailing. I'd left one of the companionway weather boards out for ventilation that week and a flying fish had gotten in and really stunk the place up.  I'm getting topside in order, my wife's down below cleaning up rotten fish guts when Blanche W motors by and we take 3 possibly 45 degree rolls in her wake.

Next thing I know, I'm down below cleaning up fish guts and vomit while my wife is in the cockpit swearing up a storm at the Blanche and her passengers!

That hurts to see. Just like those airplanes in AZ or somewhere.

The government doesn't care about that old stuff.

Taxpayer will buy new.

But if you mean the "boneyard" at Davis Monthan, those planes are just fine.

Yeah but most of those jeeps could have been given away and still be on the road.

They weren't valued as much back then as they are today.  I doubt that they could have been given away.

In that case I'd have left them in countr(ies.) They might have had some value elsewhere and we'd have saved on shipping. Not that war makes any sense. I'll bet the next "world war" will last less than 24 hours.

A friend married a gal whose father or grandfather made a killing going island to island in the Pacific post war and salvaging everything.  He tells me they have a tool shed behind the house built out of a section of bomber fuselage.
