I love this one. I'm starting to think of myself as a "Radical Centerist", which basically means I attract the scorn of both sides of the swamp, shielded by the certainty that I occupy the only patch of high ground. Also, I get to argue with everyone!  Probably I'll get canceled or shot, but at least my feet won't stink.

Most everyone on either sade don't know what to say to middle views

They are wired to consider any question or doubt as an Assault on their soapbox

Those with the weakest logic jump right to name calling

Likely the area of their expertise

Lot more Laffs looking around with a view from the middle

Familiar at all with the Birchers?

Loves war, hates education, hates anybody that isn't white & wealthy, and ESPECIALLY hates hippies, big flags and golden eagles everywhere (which I thought was cool when I was a little kid... took me a while to catch on to the bullshit that went with it).... definitely liberal by today's Trumpublican standards.

John Birch was a "christian" missionary in China in the 1940s  After Mao was victorious, he skedaddled the missionaries out of China, and Johnny seemed to have got shot in the process.  Thus he was chosen as the first martyr of anti-communist fight by the nascent RWNJ's of Orange County.

They also lobbied strenuously to remove fluoride from southern California's drinking water as it was clearly a communist plot.  Thus I sat in a dentist's chair yesterday getting a root canal.

My intellectually challenged MIL was anti-fluoridation.

"How do you know" was her standard response when confronted about anything that had science behind it.

I'm pretty sure if she was still around that she'd have a problem with vax even though she went through the big push on it back in the 50's.

Universal health care, voting rights, rights to unionize, public education, infrastructure ... you know...socialism.

I don't think you know what socialism is...  Cuba, China, North Korea, Venezuela... That's socialism.

Anyway, that's PA material, this thread's for laughs.

Well, that post had me rolling on the floor laughing.

One of the best Dunning Kruger posts ever.

Hey, thanks.  I'm a radicalized political moderate myself.  Small "l" libertarian.

To be realistic, the batteries have to be dead, the scotch tape so old it won't come off the roll, the pen is dry, there are two matches with the sparker missing, and all the Phillips bits are missing.

Additionally the story goes that when George VI was presenting Bader and others medals for their exploits....

"Gentlemen, I would like to award you with a medal for bravery in shooting down two Messerschmitts..over enemy terrtory."

"Your Royal Highness" exclaimed Bader correcting the King...."it wasn't two Messerschmitts I shot down it was two Focke Wulfs....."

George VI replied "I don't care if it was two Messerschmitts or two Focke Wulfs you are still only getting one

fffu.... fucking medal! "

New to me BMW hardtop convertible Coupe was in for motor replacement of right rear window, which was preventing the top going down, into the boot.  Found a quarter inch drive ratchet, with 10mm, deep, 6 point socket behind the drivers seat on the floor.  Should I send it back to the moron??

Works if you call it "entitlement" too.

The RWNJs are not really hypocrits, they just believe in predistination. They cannot be bad, it's their inherent right to shit all over everyone around them and still get into Heaven. They bee-EE-lieve it!

I had a 912 Porsche which got the factory issued rot in the rocker panel.

When they opened it up they found a waterlogged shop rag in it.

German quality.

New '79 Mustang. Right quarter window trim was a bit crooked but in those days cars were pretty crappy.  Eventually pulled the rear seat cushion to run speaker cables and found all the broken glass from when the original window had been broken and replaced.

I'm paying 40 bucks a month for total service calls on top of the CPO warranty, including the 2 grand brake job at 40k miles.  We have already benefited.  10 hours to fix the convertible hardtop would have been well over a grand!

Motor replacement or window regulator/kinematic?  The regulator had a design deficiency earlier this century.  The wire rope would end up slicing through the polymer pulley and the glass would fall into the door.

My wife's BMW was in for a regulator replacement about every three months while still under warranty.  I think the driver's side most often, but all four at least once.   She wanted to keep it after warranty and I got to where I could replace a rear regulator in about 30 minutes and a front one in about 45.  I kept a driver's regulator on the shelf at all times, since she used it the most.

Motor replacement, it's a 2017, 430i that I picked up off lease, in January with 13,500 miles on it.  Got 20k miles now, but I will not be doing a 180 weekly round trip  to work and back very soon....

Thread Derail, Story time. E90 3 series BMW. Son's friend owned it. Had a minor (and I mean minor, coupla drips) coolant leak. Enough that it looses pressure and overheats whilst hooning it.

Well, I got all the tools, my son (and I) has skills. Tells friend to bring it by we'll fix it.

It sat in front of my house for 4-5 months. Every single time somebody touched a part of the cooling system, it broke. Like dissolved into plastic powder broke.  Grab a radiator hose and the radiator itself just turns into powder. Order parts and wait. Radiator broke. Thermo housing broke. Every single thing in the cooling system broke. Couldn't pull a hose off without whatever the hose connected to broken.  Ended up being something like $1+K in parts.  For a perfectly running BMW that had a few drips. At a dealer I'd guess a $5K+ repair.

I'm a decent wrench. I've owned an Atomic 4, a Chevy Vega, and a Jeep TJ. I know how to fix a POS.

I will _never_ ever again touch a BMW. Could not pay me enough.  I definitely won't buy one. If you gave me one free I would refuse it.

Oh, found a meme so I wasn't the thread killer.....
