Index marking on heavy non-skid?

Recommended Posts

We are just getting some base settings on my J/88 and I am wanting to put more index marks on the boat for getting quickly back to settings we find fast. The lines are easy to mark but in many cases I would like to have a set of index marks near the clutches for people to get to and maybe some labels for wind strength related to those settings.

How are people doing this with such heavy non-skid?

Thanks,

Dan

On my J/109 I taped off an area in front of the rope clutches, cleaned it with a wire brush and acetone, then spread Gelcoat thickened with colloidal silica to make a paste.  Once it kicked, peeled the tape and stuck on adhesive ruler labels.  Works great.  I did the same for jib sheets.
