Is it as simple as checking to make sure the level is correct, then sucking the old oil put through the dipstick tube and putting back an equal amount? Quote Link to post Share on other sites
brucephenry 26 Posted July 28, 2021 Share Posted July 28, 2021 Put oil pads under the engine in the bilge (because things go wrong). Now would be a good time to change your oil filter, check your racor, check your belts, check the level in the transmission, and check your batteries (water level in each cell). If you’re using a suction can, run the engine up to operating temperature before starting the suckage. Don't assume that the amount you pull out is the right amount to put back in. Check the dipstick before the oil change. If it's on the money, then you can put back in what you pulled out. Also, don't assume that the dipstick straw is at the bottom of the sump. Sometimes you can hit a snag going in and think it's fully inserted when it's not. You can also overinsert it and have it curve back up. Either way, you won't get all the old oil out. Right after it starts sucking air, try to push the straw in farther and pull it out partially. If it starts sucking oil again, you'll know you weren't at the bottom. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Quickstep192 91 Posted August 1, 2021 Author Share Posted August 1, 2021 The oil change instructions in the owners manual seems to indicate that you just connect the oil suction tube to the dipstick tube itself, not a dip tube that goes inside the dipstick tube. This would assume that the dipstick tube goes to or near to the bottom of the oil pan. Anybody know? Quote Link to post Share on other sites
