And here I thought that he was most famous for the spray on hair or the beloved pocket fisherman.  The man was a cultural icon FFS!  

If anybody should come back from the dead it should be him.  "But wait, there's more!"  And then we would all have a good laugh and breathe a sigh of relief.

RIP. Ronco ads were probably the best thing on late night TV back in the day.  The ChopOMatic actually worked and was dirt cheap.  If only the BassOMatic were real.

My favorite story of his salesmanship:

"Popeil admits to some failures. He sold many cans of something called Instant Shine shoeshine spray to military units--until it turned a general's spit-shined boots white."

When the General's eyes bugged out at his black, now white, shoes, Popeil asked him, "Is there someone else I can talk to in maybe another branch of the military?"
