basketcase 793
From their vapourware page...... 'Outright ownership is R 1,950,000 +VAT'. That works out to 130 204.99usd before VAT. What the actual fuck? 130k for an ugly as fuck 'boat' with fender rebates? Man.... I want some of what they are smoking.

Santanasailor 639
What’s the worry, you can hitch it to back of your Prius and have it shipped to Europe, launch your floating/sailing NYC apartment off the beach at Gibraltar and sail to Grease.(Sic)(intentionally) (not the nation of Greece, but the grease you have to dispose of after cooking in your floating NYC apartment but you can go to Greece as well). Then skip though the Suez Canal and duke it out with some Somalian pirates, finally, load it up at the Seychelles, pack a lunch, have it shipped to Australia and have a go at the Sidney Holbart. Just think of all the new skills you’ll learn in the Bass Strait. I think its a lovely apartment. Remember, I have a nice bridge at London, England for sale. Good price on the bridge.

Santanasailor 639
After looking at the remarks section and sorting through the many remarks or the admiring fans, I ran across a fellow who said he had sailed the Atlantic and the Southern Ocean. He felt this craft would only be suitable in small lakes and rivers. I have navigated rivers (in power boats) and in my experience the current in the rivers would be a bit much to safely navigate in this craft. At least the folks building this craft agreed with the sailor. Pictured below is a lake I suspect would be a s safe waterway for the boat.

See Level 1,168
They seem to be following the recent camp trailer crowd They should just skip the sail and cut the mast down to radar post height. Airwick 245
In all fairness, other than the questionable rig and sailing abilities, it might be a nice weekend camper... It would struggle to go upwind for sure but it would be ok on a reach or downwind so if you think of it as a motorsailer it might be an overall ok design. Not sure about what the "full keels" mean for trailering though: it's either going to sit really high on the trailer or the keels are outside the wheels?

HypnoToad 75
The rudders look like an afterthought. "How ya gonna turn it?" "Ummmm.....I don't know, we'll just put a pair of connected spoon shaped rudders on there that can't turn fully without hitting the hull and have tillers that help keep the aft cabin doors shut. Yeah, that's the ticket." This smells like a funding Ponzi scheme based on a drawing by 15 year old who pirated a copy of a rendering software app.

Even small lakes that have a decent wind reach can get waves over 4 feet (seen it) We sail on Caney Creek Lake, as well as Choctawhachee bay. Caney is only 5000 acres. We have storms that challenge our Santana. Days easily exceed 20 knots of wind. A Hobie cat would revel in these conditions. A rank amateur in a boat that is only eight foot in beam with only tow “ropes” to pull, and a sail up, would be overwhelmed in conditions that the Santana with equal beam sails under blade and reefed main. I would not want to be anywhere near that top heavy, narrow beam, unballested crackerbox. This is no catamaran in the traditional sense. This is a craft, optimized for living comfort and trailerability, not sailing.
