Google Image Search not working on new Dell laptop?

Recommended Posts

My older HP laptop was slow as molasses, so my local IT got me to buy a new Dell for 800 bucks, and it's light years faster!!  And I need a ten key on the keyboard for paying bills and accounting.  But, all of a sudden, when I right click on a photo image there is no option to "search google image" for the source of the image????  My work Dell Desktop has that feature in Chrome, in spite of all the Corporate nanny's blocking streaming and other content that is banned.  In spite of those nanny's, I can stream xfinity content that I have saved on my home DVD, of live streaming comcast content, go figure???  When I was working Sunday shifts, I got live Formula one races on my work desktop, awesome!!!!!

Anyway,  I need to fix the new laptop to show me "search google image", when I right click on an image???

Thanks in advance to anyone who can solve this for me?  I will meet that person at any pub halfway between us, and buy the drinks for the evening!!!  :)

You can always open another tab for Google images, and drag the photo there.

Do you get a drop down that offers the option of "Inspect Q"?

Thanks, I will remember that, but so used to it being automatically in the drop down, when right clicked on the image.

Remember that Chrome sux. And it's next to impossible to remove entirely once it gloms on to your system.

How do I check which version of Chrome I have?  Pretty sure it's the most recent, since it's a brand new laptop and my computer guy set it up with everything updated.  I think google image search used to be at the bottom when right clicking, but it's disappeared now.  I  have a call in to my guy about two other issues, I will add this to my needs.

not necessarily ,      open chrome,  three dots in upper right corner,   select help,  select about google chrome..     when you do that , google will update your browser to the current version , like it or not..

and do yourself a favor,  download and add this extension, Adblock Plus - free ad blocker

I followed your instruction and it was version 94.0.6 something.  It did update quickly and not change in the missing google image search link when right clicking on the link.  My tech guy will sort it out.  He hasn't sent me a bill for work he did two months ago, so I am wondering what the damages are going to be???

uBlock Origin I've found to be better than AdBlock.

If you add the right filters you can even dispose of Facebook Sponsored and Suggested content...most of the time.

Ghostery seems to work pretty well too. I run AdBlock and Ghostery, and when I have to turn off my ad blocker to read content I leave Ghostery running and it continues to block ads but I can see the content. I have no idea why this works.

Perhaps I'm a little paranoid...

uBlock, LastPass, CookieAutoDelete, BotSentinal (for checking Twitter users), Facebook Container, and Privacy Badger.

we're talking BB here...

Yes, I am somewhat technically challenged in this area!   Partly because I have zero patience when stuff doesn't work like it's supposed to, and unlike many of you, I can't be bothered to spend much of my time to try and figure it out myself for very long.  Just like I no longer work on my own cars, I find the checkbook to be the best tool in the box, for computer problems!!!

What's your operating system?

Not sure,  I used to know where to find that??  This machine is so fast that I must slow way down with my typing, since an accidental hit to a key will cause things to pop up, or put blue box around text, preventing me from replying here...

I'm an old fuck, and have migrated to Apples over the past 10yrs.  I'll never go back to PCs.  Everything since XP has been downhill, not an upgrade, IMHO.  I could handle 7, but 10 was just too weird.

BB, you just bought a computer and don't know what version of Windows it is running?

I know it's Windows 10, yes, I thought he was asking for something else?  Did you see the comment about how horrible Quickbooks works with a Mac, from ExcodedTom, or whatever he is calling himself this week?

I  thought "operating system" was more than just what number windows.

I think it comes and goes?  Possibly related to medications, alcohol, or other substances....

You might try a different browser.

Firefox is pretty okay.

I will try it.   Last time I did, I wasn't happy with it for some reason, but that was quite a while ago....

With Firefox or Chrome you have to install and enable the appropriate extensions. Go to the three horizontal bars top right, click, choose More Tools, click "Extensions". Follow instructions.

So you don't have it yet. Type "Chrome Web Store" into the address field, then when that opens, search for "image search by google". That should get you to the target, then just click on it and then click on "Add to Chrome".

You have a Web Store tab there. Will it not open?

I entered it into the browser just as you instructed, and that's what I got?   hopefully my IT guy will be able to sort all this stuff out this coming week, so I am good to go with my home office with another monitor, for after I retire on Friday, and no longer have access to company assets....

You should be able to close the Admin tab and leave the Store tab open.

I cannot get to the store unless I get through this.....  Sorry I am such a dolt!  I did use 386 softwater to debug a 486 processor successfully in 1986!  And before that, I was using a Radio Shack "Trash 80" in visi-calc to create lists of for sale properties in 1985!!!

So, I could have been a contender!!!  :)
