Alhadder 586
Just checked in here to see if there was an Ashes 21/22 thread and no. So here it is. Australia has a new captain and a new wicketkeeper. Broad has not been named for England. England won the toss and about to face the first ball. LB 15 6,485
Well that’s enough light breakfast beers. Time to get serious. 101 behind with 9 in the hand. Warner is looking a little shaky. I see there is a thunderstorm out near Crows Nest on the radar but that looks like passing to the south of the Gabba on current trajectory.

McClown hasn't announced our opening up date yet but he's expected to do so tomorrow. Expectations are it'll be around Australia Day. I expect Covid to make it's way down to the South Coast within 4 weeks of that date, at which time I our Covid free lifestyle of the last 18 months will be disrupted and given my previously disclosed here chronic health condition I'm going to need to be extra vigilant. I maybe eligible for 3rd primary dose of Covid vax prior to opening up date so will make sure I get that, otherwise wait for booster due in March.

Alhadder 586
TR so Malan & Root have survived through to tea but at least one of them needs to bat through to stumps to make the Aussies bat again. England still need another 58 runs to make Australia bat again, which they're likely to get now I will concede, but how much will they be ahead and have to defend? We shall see. Onto other matters - LB must've gone down to the boat and left his phone behind coz he hasn't been heard of all day, unless the men in blue have caught up with him and charged him with theft of squad car, kidnapping of midget and disorderly conduct outside the German club Till tomorrow...tis beer o'clock her in the West.

The GOAT gets his 400th Test wicket, then gets another 3, Head gets Man of the Match with his 152 in the Aussie 1st Innings. Alhadder 586
So...here we go...2nd Test has started in Adelaide. Hazelwood out, which was a known yesterday, however Cummins has been ruled out coz he was deemed a close contact to a positive Covid case at an Adelaide restaurant last night. Lyon & Starc were at the same restaurant but were outside...so Smith is Aussie captain. He won the toss and decided to bat. Harris survived first over v Anderson and Warner resuming battle with Broad in 2nd over with Warner leaving 2nd ball, hit above pad and survived lbw shout. Wicket looks good so should favour the batsmen for the first two sessions.
Alhadder 586
Has certainly favoured the batsmen for the first 2 sessions so far, however post dinner break Warner gets himself out 5 short of a century. England let off the hook after losing 2 quick wickets including Michael Neser's 1st Test wicket from his 2nd ball. Edit: Here's a shot from the stump cam of the lightning strike!! Let's see how they go tomorrow. If they're still batting at the end of the day then we're heading for a draw. If they're all out before tea then Aussies will probably go 2 up for the series. P_Wop 3,404
Australia 189-7, so I think if they get to 220, they'll declare, and leave England a hopeless target of 460-ish.
P_Wop 3,404
Starc just banged Root for six over midwicket. 207-7 now. Moving right along.
P_Wop 3,404
Australia 230-9 declared. 45 minutes till tea. England needing 468 runs to win. Any bets? No?

This could be all over before stumps. Australia's Plan A has worked a treat since before the toss.
P_Wop 3,404
England 4-1 in the second over. Ooops.
Alhadder 586
Oooowww...Starc gets Root right where you don't want to get hit. Takes a few minutes to recover then a couple of overs later nicks Richardson behind and that's stumps with England 4 down. Will they last till dinner break tomorrow? We'll see. They're not showing the discipline to bat it out till stumps. No way they'll go the distance.
