Kolibri 464
My wife gave me a new drone for a birthday + Christmas present this year. I'm still fairly low on the learning curve with the DJI Air 2S, but fortunately the curve isn't ridiculously steep. Here's a sample vid with a remix from one of my former band projects.

We have sailed her for decades, knew pretty much everything about her and with both of us in our 70’s, we decided that more boat might just be too much ‘more.’

If you have a Netflix subscription, for example, you can get one of these, plug it into the HDMI port on your TV, log it into your wifi, and watch. Prior to getting one we were connecting one of our laptops to the TV to watch Netflix. Works with many streaming services. There is an app you can put on your phone that turns your phone into a remote. You can also plug your headphones into your phone and listen at any volume you want. Good device and reasonably priced. Schock experimented with a wing keel. It was hoped that it would be as quick as the standard keel. It wasn’t. I longed and pined for a boat with a standard keel, but when this little boat became available in 1990, at a great price in excellent condition, we purchased her. she looked like she was just popped out of the mold. Her owner, had double knee surgery and could no longer sail. As stated, she cannot sail with the standard keel, but she is easy to trailer launch off of a decent ramp and she has a foot less draft which kind of suits our purposes anyway. It is rumored that the wing keel is faster than the full keel in very light air. This little Santana is a killer when the breeze is barely there. Of course, when the wind comes up, she digs herself a hole and tries to hide in it. (The bow wave coming off of the stern is impressive) Bottom line, there are plenty of boats that are faster than the Santana 20, but she handles like a little sports car, not the fastest, but the most fun to handle and sail. I liken her as being the MG TC of sailboats. Look closely and you can see the wing under her keel

One surprise was an old Geiger Counter that I put on eBay. Bidding was relatively ferocious and it went for twice the price of identical NOS units that are available from old Civil Defense warehouses. (And those are selling like crazy.) IDK why, except perhaps I put in the key words "SHTF" and "Bug-Out-Bag" in the ad copy. It seems as if the retards really are frantically preparing for war. When I was about 9 (c.1957), my older brother, 10, had a Gilbert chemistry set. One day, while mother was cooking dinner, my brother found our sister, 2, in his room eating the contents of the chemical bottles. He was livid and stormed into the kitchen to tell mother of this transgression. She grasped the situation at once, called a neighbor to watch us, grabbed sister and took off to the ER. My father was flying back from a business trip, and got home about an hour later. The neighbor brought him up to date. He listened to my brother's whining about his chemistry set for about five seconds, and went to the ER. Some hours later, they all returned, sister looking worse for the wear, after having had her stomach pumped out. She stayed out of our room/lab after that.

Some hours later, they all returned, sister looking worse for the wear, after having had her stomach pumped out. She stayed out of our room/lab after that. Similar experience. I think my chemistry set had been "safed," in that a key ingredient often seemed to be missing to complete many of the more "interesting" experiments, (e.g. those that were supposed to produce smoke or fire) but there were often two bottles of some of the "dull" chemicals instead. However I had a little pot of dirty paint thinner left out on my work/play table, to clean my model-painting brushes. One day my baby cousin drank it when no one was watching, and shortly thereafter became violently ill. Somehow, my Great-Grandmother, who was already more than a little around the bend, managed to put together the stains on the kids clothes with my pot of paint thinner, and off they all went to the hospital. Hmm. That cousin ended up having a life-long issue with substance abuse. I wonder if that started it all, or if it was just an early symptom... Edit. That got me thinking so I checked and the old microscope set, for some reason, has a little vial of potassium dichromate (as well as some relatively harmless things) in it. Better pitch that before selling it on, for liability reasons, I suppose.

longy 850
Double & triple check the alignment of the bottom unit to the deck unit. ANY mis-alignment causes friction/wear/increased power draw.. There's a reason all modern windlasses have the drive motor bolt to the deck unit directly.

Now Tom is thinking to himself, “hmm...35 years and no problems...embarrassing lack of maintenance...hmm...what lurks under my foredeck this bright New Year...” :-) (Mine, a venerable old manual Simpson Lawrence Sea Tiger 555, many decades old, started to go year before last...but I discovered that the cost of overhaul just didn’t make financial sense compared to a new electric one.) OSPREY 218
The rebuild was 50% of the cost of a new one, also didn’t have to change anything bolted right back in.

For sure, well worth it. Having to modify mounting etc etc etc for something different would be difficult and expensive. In my case, it was simply time to go electric. But I kept the old SL one, all fully disassembled, “just in case” :-). Hmm...New Year’s resolution to do something with it...exactly what, I dunno!

Wow, that sounds reasonable. It looks like everything is new except for the on deck bronze. Deck leak cause that corrosion? Mine has some rust but not much considering it's never been out of there. I don't think mine leaks thru the deck but I may take a closer look,... It's held with pretty large carriage bolts. Were you able to remove those or have to break/cut them?
OSPREY 218
Everything below deck is new, above deck was cleaned and polished. The previous owner was very ill for many years so the boat sat on the hard for a long time and may have been leaking. I put a two foot breaker bar on the bronze bolts and they sheared in half. The big problem was getting the deck plate to break free of the shaft. Wood shims, blood mixed with penetrating oil, and heat and four hours with a rubber hammer it broke free.

Nah, Fairfield Circuitry has a more realistic price policy, even though they are on the expensive side of it. Their effects are moody, completely analog and insanely warm and watercolorish. Their ring modulator is a far better tremolo than most actual tremolo pedals for instance.

If you like those you may also enjoy stuff from LovePedal. I have an Amp50 and Eternity Boost. Both provide incredible tones. http://www.lovepedal.com/

The Fairfield pedals are very intriguing but they're a little above my comfort level for spendy-ness. They look quite different in the their layout and control configuration. Definitely going to look into them some more! Apologies for the hijack. My Christmas present... well, a great year of my wife and I buying whatever we want, pretty much (like some pedals I definitely do not need but enjoy). Christmas Day I had to joy of seeing my wife unwrap a book I'd found for her, Bad Girls In History. It's one-page biographies of women rulers, generals, pirates, rebel artists, etc. She flipped through it and said "I -LOVE- this!" and she's not just reading it, she's reading favorite entries over the phone to her friends. - DSK
Bull City 2,583
My sistter gave me one of these: It is warm and toasty, and a sudden gust will not blow it off your head. Although were I to meet up with a motorcycle gang, I wouldn't fancy my chances. Mrs. Bull gave me this. Very nice for cool sunny days.
