SF Dede 0
Hi folks, I’m a bit of a newbie but am interested in the J/100, perhaps as an alternative to a new J/9. Are there any J/100 owner’s in the Bay Area and can you tell me the good and bad of the boat? My goals are to single or double hand mostly with the occasionally day sail with friends. Thanks a bunch. Wet Spreaders 306
There were a few around when the model first came out, but I don't think that enough showed up for a class start. I checked the registrations for the Three Bridge Fiasco. There is one J-100 registered - perhaps reach out to that guy and see what he says.
SF Dede 0
Thanks for the suggestion. Have a good one.
Irrational 14 416
At least 3 last year at the Big Boats Series, all with sprits. One fixed, the other two retractable.
Wet Spreaders 306
Good idea to check the BBS - 4. USA 8 Eight Ball Scott Easom SFYC San Rafael, CA, USA J 100 33 623.4(GPH) 5. USA 23 Feather Zach Berkowitz StFYC San Francisco, CA, USA J 100 33 628.6(GPH) 6. USA 88 Grace Ted Rogers Richmond Yacht Club Alameda, CA, USA J 100 33 624.0(GPH) I would call Scott Easom (Easom Rigging - Google will find for you).
SF Dede 0
Very helpful and thank you to both of you. I’ll reach out.
GrandWeasel 8
Go talk to Ben & Scott at Easom Rigging. They can tell you more than you could ever care to know about the 100. Eight Ball was quite a project.
jmartyg 0
There is a growing fleet in Eastern Canada, 5 now I think. Most have been modified to have genoa tracks and symmetrical kites. The ones with genoas are fast as snot in PHRF. They love the long cockpits, compared to their earlier J boats.
SF Dede 0
I appreciate all the input. I’ve had to put this all on hold due to so unforeseen family circumstances. Hopefully I’ll be able to pick this up later this year or early next. Separately, I did receive an offer to buy what is a beautiful J-100. She is now for sale. Hopefully she finds a great home. https://www.yachtworld.com/yacht/2014-j-boats-j-100-8202306/
