Monster Mash 3
Just read a tech review on the J80 and it says the mast weighs 187 lbs. Seems heavy, is this correct ? I've gone to the class website and goggle and couldn't find the answer. Thx Monster
charis 15
That's probably close. I recently got a new mast from Sparcraft and it was a two person lift even before the spreaders and rigging we installed.
Monster Mash 3
Agree, after more research I found that a J24 mast is approx 180bls - fittings and shrouds.
Gouvernail 3,948
Really?? That J-24 number seems absurdly high. I don’t think I am m strong enough to comfortably grab a 187 pound mast as f carry it around but I regularly move J-24 masts by myself. the J-80 number seems high as well… perhaps I will grab a scale and do some investigating
Monster Mash 3
Seems high to me too. I got that number from a RigRite catalogue. Hopefully somebody with a J80 will chime in.
Monster Mash 3
From the Class Rules Mast weight = 33.01 kg. or 72.97 lbs. Roger, over and out. Monster
Gouvernail 3,948
Yeah… i am thinking a j-24 mast is about as heavy as a five gallon bucket of gelcoat… which is 45 pounds. but I plan to weigh one anyway
