    The return of IOR

The lead ingots would typically be a last minute thing to measure in at a Ton level as in Ganbare below, which is a bit of an unusual example - or a quick and dirty (and cheap) way to add sail area or some other tradeoff if performance was lacking in a certain area. At the design stage, the...

    Banned Innovations in Sail Racing

You would never be able to attain the speed necessary for supercavitation in a human powered sub. As for ejecting bubbles, I believe they would float to the surface rather than envelope the hull.

    Trump's last General

And here I thought this was about his other "Generals" - the ones led by Hershel Walker 40 years ago in yet another of his business failures.

Russia warns it may cut bilateral ties with United States

Sounds a lot like a scene near the end of Syriana. Good movie worth watching with George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Christopher Plummer.

    IOR landfills?

For a less than 20 year old 26 foot boat with something resembling sails - $20k sounds like a great deal. But like you say it is a Mac 26X

    IOR landfills?

I wasn't talking so much about the number of them on the market as much as the asking prices for them. $22k seems outrageous to me yet that seems to be the going asking price for these things. Just surprised at the prices, that's all.

    IOR landfills?

For some strange reason - I don't know if it's wishful thinking or reality, but there are numerous CL ads for Mac 26Xs in the $20k range or more. At least a half dozen such in all the California CLs. I guess there is a ready market for people wanting a sailboat without knowing much about...

    The return of IOR

    IOR landfills?

Yup. I just found out a couple of months ago that Vern passed away late last year. I thought the old bugger would never pass away. I think the newest sails were 40 year old Hood Spectra. Saw him racing with those once maybe 6-7 years ago...

    The return of IOR

Chain girth? That's part of the International Rule (i.e. metre boats). No mention of it in IOR.

    IOR landfills?

    That ad was from 2013.

    IOR landfills?

I gotta laugh. $26k? According to this, that boat was for sale a year ago at $12,400 http://www.histoiredeshalfs.com/One Tonner/OFa 4 Jenny H.htm And even that was probably high. Do some people think they got some special deal that suddenly makes the boat more than double in value? Reminds...

    The return of IOR

Ah yes. Liz of Lymington a David Thomas 3/4 Ton. I think besides rapidly closing the aft girth stations he was attempting to get a much deeper than normal rudder - in hopefully cleaner flow off the "bustle" than you would get in a normal extended bustle. Kind of a handsome boat with...

    The return of IOR

And yet they both sailed at the '73 QT Worlds. https://www.histoiredeshalfs.com/Quarter%20Tonner/Q%20Black%20Bottom.htm https://www.histoiredeshalfs.com/Quarter%20Tonner/Q%20Robber%20original.htm No such thing as an IOR stern really - although most designers took inspiration from the latest...

    The return of IOR

The pintail era really only lasted a couple of years. Began in '73 but by the '75 QT Cup in Deauville, with the success of the twin Farr 727's the writing was on the wall and reinforced in the '76 QT Cup in Corpus Christi by the dominating performances of Magic Bus and Fun. The QT class was...
