Amusing to see GRS spruiking the offshore yacht racing owners group on FB with a photo of a group of TP52s. Guess my shitter 46 is reason I haven't been asked my opinion

    Mark Mills foiler in action

Looks awesome, they do have to do something about that engine noise though, no doubt this will come

I just bought a cheap 12volt one off ebay, came from china. I changed the rabbit ears to twin aerials at the stern. works great. If you want I can look up the brand next time I go to the boat.

Yep, you have to assume that one bolt carries all the load. so still less than 20% of the bolt proof strength including dynamic loads. Well within the fatigue limit for SS. All seems to point to some type of manufacturing f up, stripped, overcut thread?

Yeah, looks like 2 12mm SS bolts. that's about 16 ton capacity for a 900kg keel, should be sufficient.

The Adventures of Chas from Tas - PHOTO CONTEST!!!

Thought you were talking about Chas there for awhile. I found him an unpleasant pain in the ass who was under the mistaken opinion that his half incoherent ramblings were worth talking over everyone else at the table.

DK as I understand it one PLB broke when being deployed the other crew was below deck and rushed out when boat was going over without it

Interesting observations. But the X2 keel is cast steel (no welding) so not of much relevance

15 hours hanging onto the bottom of an upturned hull in winter dosent sound like fun. Glad the girls are ok. As for the boat, its just a boat

    Aussie/Kiwi ocean and club racers

Not many better IRC W/L regatta boats around (and all Mills designs), but still $100k over the odds IMHO

Only $5k year to insure. More if you move it out of the field

    2022 Sydney 2 Hobart. 2h for Tatts

TP52's have cameras and sensors which relay actual depth, twist, forestay pressure etc against target settings to a guy on the rail with a tablet. Not much of a step to add servos to control directly. Nothing that bucket loads of money wont fix.

I suspect more to do with concerns about automated sail control.

I was thinking of simply as a lobby group finally giving voice to the sailors. Or would AS simply say we don't recognise your association? Could Australian Recreational Sailors Ensemble (ARSE) join World Sailing direct and run its own events?
