You would be hard pressed to prove it in the evidence provisions of a protest room.
At least one Sydney club already has such an amendment. Regardless, as mentioned, you could just do it as an additional entry criteria. In which case RRS 46 need not be amended.
They write it into NOR and/or SI's.
"All crew shall be a financial member or temporary financial member of ${CLUB}. Temporary membership is available via the SailPass system. this amends RRS 46"
Job done.
In my scan about the place, I have found several such examples. Some are better...
What I'm talking about is AS said "we've made this rule, here's the means to give everyone effectively free AS membership, you get to decide how much you charge"
Some clubs charged nothing, Some clubs charge something...
...Some clubs went "fsck that, I'm going to charge even AS members to...
Again, that's the club's choice. Despite what you think of AS, it is the club that has actively made this choice.
If we feel the clubs are making this choice in error, what are the clubs missing to make better decisions on this?
My practical experience is smaller organisations don't...
The thing is, given the way Sail Pass is administered, clubs are making active choices to use SailPass as a revenue stream. While AS have provided the tool, this is in theory, a grass roots choice to wield it in this way.
I actually support the idea of SailPass for non-as members. For...
I tend to agree, especially crew. Sure charge a visiting boat a race entry, but IMHO, one of the great things about our sport is the accessibility of the sport to crews who want to go sailing.
At a minimum, so much of the discussion and information on SailPass is about non-AS members. It is...
Breaking this out specifically, I'm curious how your (Australian) club has introduced SailPass.
There is some standard wording kicking around as follows:
"SailPass is a way for people who aren’t already a Member of a sailing club to be eligible to sail in ${CLUB} races in accordance with Rule...
I've moved to a new area, and the local club in this area wants visiting AS members to buy a $15 sailpass for each race. I'm not sure that was the original intent of the system (at least as I understood it) and was surprised to hear other clubs are doing something similar.
And that's fine, but two yachts on a pleasure cruise heading in two different directions in what sounds basically like open water should never be in the position they need rules to avoid bumping in to each other.
There are two fundamental principles I live by out on the water:
1) I have...
Where T.F is Cid Harbour? I mean, i grew up halfway between brisbane and hammo, thought I had sailed to most places on that strip of coast. Never heard of Cid Harbour.
Gladstone or Keppel would be about half way. A few sharks, and less crocs but just as many box jellies as Airlie...
