    Skeeta vs UFO

I think we are getting to the point that they will meet on the water, more and more foilers are being sold. I have been foiling the Skeeta for 3 years now and I am the only foiling boat on the lake (I only see a few wing and windsurf foilers). Few weeks ago...... I spotted an F101 with my...

Skeeta and Nikki foiling, who's out there?

Daggerboard box: - Flush..... does not do much once on foils - Build that way so it can easily be replaced (I ran aground and the box did absorb the impact, foils mast cuts into the softer box plastic). 20 euro piece and a few hours work. I was very happy with the design, no hull damage just a...

Holy Crap! I own an RS700!!!!!

bump....just some first feedback (might help others..... since there is not that much info on these boats) Just bought an RS700. 5 times out (winds 5-9 knts). Able to trapeze (not yet consistent) and so far got max 9 knots on the speedpuck. Getting the boat upright again, I find it easy (ps...

Skeeta and Nikki foiling, who's out there?

Forestay, did you loop the rope ? (3x..... never any issues with it) "My biggest challenge was tipping the boat over into the wind! " --> welcome to the club :) Bear away, get speed, point back as soon as you feel it will start to foil, roll onto the wind (tip the boat) and sheet (sit still...

Skeeta and Nikki foiling, who's out there?

I assume you used the 8.5m green sail with 20 knts and that sail is really nice and easy to trim. Sail trim is really easy and forgiving on a Skeeta (but I can only really compare with my EPS).

Skeeta and Nikki foiling, who's out there?

yes it is.... I tried a wazp (seems to be easier than a moth), found it a lot more difficult than a skeeta (and confirmed by the instructors, they had both available for lessons). My sailing buddy (good sailor) can manage the skeeta in 20knts (if not gusty).

Is LaserPerformance planning a new dinghy???

Your right, it has indeed more freeboard and the boards are flat (maybe they cut better through the water). The EPS is quite a bit lower and the freeboards are bulkier (they don't cut). Looks like you can get a lot more angle. Hope they start making some video's.

Is LaserPerformance planning a new dinghy???

You do not roll tack an EPS (it will really slow you down), just roll a bit and tack (it just needs speed). It is not a standard Laser (you have to sail it differently).Portstar (or any other boat with wings) will be the same. I am just really curious on how the hull will perform, guess we have...

Is LaserPerformance planning a new dinghy???

It's on my list .......just need a change to try it. Have 2 x Laser EPS (don't ask) and a foiler. The EPS is great fun and damn fast (not many boats that keep up with me). If this thing points better I am in (broad and down it will be fast anyway). Sail looks better. I use a better after market...

Skeeta and Nikki foiling, who's out there?

I believe Skeeta has a speed puck mount (at least I saw it last year).  He has a different mount.....but to me looks like a good place for it.

Skeeta and Nikki foiling, who's out there?

You need the 8.5m for that (better sail btw), but anything 20+ is challeging (no fun). Above 12 (and gusts) we always take the 8.5m.

Skeeta and Nikki foiling, who's out there?

Tacking (not on foils) and irrons. Yep, you need speed. If in irrons, tilt the boat or bear away quickly and try again (again tilting helps). Jybe (not on foils), easy but watch the nose (it can dive, no drama but ruins your gybe a bit), so sit back. To much speed in a jibe (semi foiling)...

Skeeta strap fix, way easier to get in. Just add a rope to secure them (using it for 2 years now....... works great). Add extra rope to tighten the straps so the stay up.

    best new foiler for beginner?

Nice guide, helps people a lot I guess. For the Skeeta (just 2 seasons of good use), so far nothing. Only run ground once (semi foiling), few hunderd on part and few hours of work, but every foiler breaks running ground. Had it repainted partially, because it fel out of my hands  :(  twice...

    best new foiler for beginner?

Yes it's is a limitation as well on the Skeeta. If you have space (beach), no issue. Habor you have to plan the lauch correctly (sail on the correct side) or don't raise the sail, launch point and raise (not that difficult, hull is very stable). If you don't you could flip over (not pleasant in...

    best new foiler for beginner?

It really works. You launch with the foils up. Loose the levers, push down the main and lock. Rudder, just pull a rope (on the tiller) to lower it, lock and done. Without it, maybe just use a bungy on top of the vertical blades to pull them together (creates enough friction so they will...

    best new foiler for beginner?

Both are great with crashes, they don't pitch pole and are easy to right. Skeeta..... you don't hike, you just sit (but you still need to be fit  ). Both are easy foilers. One of the best toys I ever bought.
