    Everglades Challenge 2022

Spawn is doing the “Ultimate Florida,” the first portion of which is the Everglades Challenge.  So pick UF2022 in the event category on the tracker and you should see them.

    Transpac 2021

Would love to see them finish first, but @ +20kts, Pyewacket is probably cracking off the miles too quickly.  It will be fun to watch for sure.

Just for a rough, conservative calculation: If there were 40 people working on the repair for 10 hrs/day over the course of 5 days, that's 2,000 man hours.  It's also 2.5% of the mentioned 80,000 original build time.  I'd bet there were more people and longer hours than that, so it doesn't seems...

    Brest Atlantiques 2019

Well said.   I also think it's interesting that with the AC theories, people are wondering who can stay on the foils 100% of the time in a 20-30 minute race.  These guys spend more time on their foils while trying to fall asleep!

This may be true, but outright speed isn't the only important factor.  Headsails may be extremely useful for maneuvering and accelerating back to top speed.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is the boat actually really dark navy, not black?

    NYYC Invitational IC37

was it good production compared to Monday Night Football?  No. were they able to deliver and make the event interesting for those of us who aren't sailing in it (i.e. sitting at our desks?).  Yes. Still a long way to go, but certainly steps in the right direction. EDIT: also, I applaud the...

Why did they happen to have a year's worth of food?

    strict class

My guess on the single source sails: NYYC will acquire 20 sets for their 20 boats which will then be rotated for events.   e.g.: boat #7 may be assigned sail set #12 for one event then sail set #3 for the next event.  Hopefully this takes the sail quality/condition out of the question for their...

    Marblehead to Halifax 2017

Did anyone catch the name of the guy who did the weather briefing today?  It was easily the most useful one I have ever attended.

Anyone able to get them on AIS? Surprised they wouldn't be squawking.

    All American Offshore Team

It is important to note that a big portion of the AAOT is to create an enduring program. To me it would be sensible to bring in more experienced junior sailors on the front end just to develop a baseline of people who are skilled and comfortable with the boat. Then, over time, integrate more...

    sun screen

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF 55. Wore it every day during Transpac, and anyone who has been through that part of the pacific know that the sun is a special type of intense there. Everyone on the crew used the same stuff coupled with a wide brimmed hat and even though we had a broad...

    Oil rig locations

I was wondering if there was an online resource that published the lat longs of oil rigs for commercial shipping use. If anyone has any information on this, especially on an international level, I would appreciate the assistance.
