If AM hadn't had their woopsie, LR would have been 2 and oh last weekend. They keep talking it up and playing down the issues, but the pre-event favs, have been a touch average in my mind.
Listening into the stern cams on LR, FB is calling most of the tactics - with input from Jimmy and the trimmer. I think FB is the Numero Uno on the boat. Jimmy's input seems more suggestive, than commanding - not always, but that's the impression I get.
Unless Max comes out to tell us, we don't know. It might have something to do with both helms standing quite proud when performing flight duties. The flight controller seems to be, or was, mounted at gunnel level - which I thought was a bit high, and quite a contrast to the in cockpit controls...
Not really impressed with the LR add-ons. You'd have thought crew windage considerations would've been settled and sorted way back in the design process.
It was good to see Jimmy front a couple of pressers. I love what he brings to these little talk fests. An interesting comment he made is that he is only seeing 50% of the race. From the stern cam audio he does sound a bit more subdued than normal. Himself and Bruni seem to be the only ones...
This is correct. Check out the stern cam feeds, you get a good idea of how they're doing things. LR have a simple but effective setup. Probably why their manoeuvers are solid.
That's what the grinders are for Indio.....Jimmy's contract explicitly states - must have fresh pizza available at all times.....Now that he's found out Burling's got porn screens, they're in total disarray.
I think it's for their game changing diagonal grinding positions Max was going on about the other day. Nice to see the Italians focusing on the minutia and details that make for a winning cup boat. Who cares if the main doesn't generate enough power, as long as it looks good.......
Interesting to compare that take-off video of LR with the similar one of TR. Timing from when they start to bring on the power (sheeting in) they both get up to full flight in similar times - around 17 seconds. However LR looks to be in a tad more breeze, and on bigger foils. So you'd have...
They're running those big foils very deep - lots of foil arm in the water to get that nose down for end-plating. Is that going to be fast? I'm not sure. Their manoeuvers do look good though.
^^^ In these stills LR always looks to be riding quite high. Does their hull shape preclude them from flying flat and low, or will they need bow down trim to get that low rider aspect?
