@Irrational 14, are you planning one sharing your results from the Long Beach to Dana Point race on your Col 30-2? or am I going to have to do it for you?

When I got my high wind jib I went with carbon because the price difference was really small. I think if you're using it once in awhile Dacron works, but if you're sailing in a consistently high wind area, I'd go spend a bit extra.

I am actually surprised how little reef you needed on your mainsail. I had imagined with 2 up in those wind you'd be on to your second reef to keep the boat flat.

I'm curious how do you guys make your boat go upwind well when single / shorthanded in wind and chop and stay competitive against the fleet? I find that is my weakest area, trying to get upwind in stronger winds and chop.

I had a single burner stove on my port pod. It was in bad shape so I removed it. I think this was what it was https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dometic-ORIGO-1500-Single-Burner-Alcohol-Stove/915808397 If I do end up having a stove, I'll probably think about installing a jet boil or a butane camping...

My sink was attached to a small plastic water tank located under the starboard quarter berth. I removed mine because I wasn't confident I'd use it consistently enough to be able to maintain proper hygiene.

Yes, mine is a 3/4 carbon rig too. I'm getting Irrational to reinforce my chainplate areas before I try to wind more on. My current numbers work ok up to about 10 knots, although I would still like a bit more tension all around to "trade" a bit of downwind performance for upwind performance.

I am using a PT 2 to measure my loads. I don't remember my wire diameter. Before winding it on, you might want to consult with @Irrational 14. I believe his opinion is that the tension can't be wound on so tight 26/37/32 without some level of reinforcement to the areas around the chainplates...

you're not going to be able to fly a Genoa off the jib tack because the spreaders run all the way out to the end. You could tack off the end of the spin pole, but you'll take the rating hit across the full wind range.  The C30 is really light for its size, so on my boat, it's fully powered up...

    Modified Columbia 30 info?

Would love some advice from C30 owners here. I've just about owned my boat for 1 year, raced in a bunch of races and have basically accumulated some questions I was hoping to get answers to.  Currently my weakest point of sail on the race course is going upwind. I generally have the speed but...

Just wanted to chime in here because ex Habanaro is now my new ride and renamed Mr Pongs after my dog. Want to give a shout out to @Irrational 14 for working with me on fine tuning and upgrading the systems on my boat. Learned a lot working with Irrational, and if not for him, it would be a...
