Thank you Luna Rossa for an excellent cup campaign, sportsmen to the end Jimmy and Bruni and the entire crew earned my respect on the water, just leave BB at home next time k?
Thats my point though, that pool of extremely small selection of sailors is exclusive because the people in it are the ones who have had prior cup experience. You cannot have the experience if you are not given the chance to get it.
Sam has experience in this area, with the Magenta project, and trying to get women experience in the Volvo race. That proved that you do need to take deliberate action to improve things and I think she is absolutely right to call attention to this.
Merit is a bit of a myth, to become the best...
No theres plenty of displacement yacht designers around, I look forward to seeing ETNZ launch SailFP as a new competition for foiling monohulls though.
Isn't NZ quarantine limited to specific "managed quarantine centres" (which are of course, just hotels with protocols in place) so there may well have been none for him to buy.
Does anybody know if backstays part of the measurement process? Assuming the hull is designed for both stayed and unstayed usage, could they use the backstays when its windy and take them off in the light?
I wonder if there is some continuation of load path technologies in sails, using the sail to tension the rig partially? Although these boats are also essentially always going upwind so maybe thats not necessary at all?
I couldn't help but think "hand bags vs sand bags" I mean its possibly both boats are going full noise, but if you were a little bit slower wouldn't you depower just to make it seem like you were a lot slower?
I liked this bit :D
That sounds like a fairly ambitious timetable but can't wait to see all the boats out on the Waitematā so I hope they stick to that :D
