Daje!Feels good to have a bit of highlight on Ita mainstream media!
Grandissimi tutti ... ammetto non pensavo LR potesse essere cosi forte, soprattutto contro sailing team come quello inglese. E devo dire che avevo personalmente sottovalutato la capacitá di gestione del team di Max Sirena, buon...
Hi Ruggero Tita explaimed it pretty well a couple of weeks ago on rai2 but honestly I forgot it.
Only thing I am sure is that jib is done by the second from the front on each side. Pigi De Felice on one side and I do not remember who on the other (molineris maybe?).
The other interesting thing...
FB confirmed the software issues of last race to ita press and that also impacted their ability to trim boat properly.
He said also at the start they only had a timer
I think the issue with that is that runners attachment point is outside ofnthe double skin and I understand that you have to hoist the main with runners on. So (maybe) it's not that easy
They look a bit more bow-down than in the acws.
Also Max said there would some small visible differences from acws and some others for the prada cup in January. I cannot spot anything obvious
Pietro Sibello's hands. I guess the gamepad is used for mainsail trimming.
Bruni is steering, directly in front of Pietro. It would be interesting to see what's Jimmy doing on the other side. probably working on the foils.
In the latest video I really like how the hull manages the transitions (liftoff and touchdown). It looks very clean... In particular on liftoff you see the little bow-up to get AoA increase, but not mainfoil stall, and in the touchdown a very smooth landing and very little water movement.
In an interview today with Gazzetta dello sport, max confirmed the current target date for boat 2 launch is october 20th.
Another veeeeeery interesting answer was about the speed. He was much more explicit than what I thought it would. He said that he saw the kiwi in the last outings and did...
Nothing special, other than Pietro Sibello is the mainsail trimmer (I did not know that).
Happy he is getting a good role, after all the struggles he had (end of 2008 Olympics and 2012 missed participation)... I just met him once, and he seemed to me like a great guy.
Thanks zaal! I listened to part of the interview but missed some interesting points :)
Just one small remark. Regarding waves limit that 4-5m number by checco is a fake number he said. They get some trouble in much less waves (i suspect more like 2, 2.5 metres)
Michele
I moreless agree. You wonder really how some very good but not exceptional ita sailors got to the 2021 LR team, since they were not definitely in the mix, in previous campaigns. We'll see how the team will progress.
I am also wondering if ruggi tita is now out of the team, since he is focusing...
I agree that windward rudder on ac50 and f50 provides downforce, but that is because it is set to big negative angles (I think close to -4) to increase righting moment.
But on centerline foilers with one rudder most of the time I think they provide lift. Then of course I am biased from my moth...
Ahah I was moth sailing, taking photos I guess was out of the question :D
Today they did not go out, and they will probably not go for the next few days... it looks unsailable until wednesday. Big SW tomorrow (maybe there's a window in the morning), then it will nuke from the NW for 2 days.
I was out today in cagliari and saw LR very far in the distance, so they are finally back.
I have zero info, as they were at least a couple of miles away. Beautiful day, with 10-12 knots and 20 degrees :)
Did I miss those shots?
Definitely I agree that they're pushing cause probably this is the last period they can change something in the laminate schedule of boat 2.
I am surprised nobody posted it yet! this is not SA I used to know :D
