Simon, I would being interested to see the reasoning from Nathan. My feeling has been that something as significant as foiling would lead to changes throughout the boat and therefore create a lot of incremental costs. I can't imagine our nice flexi rigs and matching sails would be as suitable...
Hi Catnewbie, unless you are trimming the traveler from the leeward side or center of the tramp, I don't think it makes a significant different difference in mechanical force whether the line exits at the car or a center spot. Either way you have roughly two to one with the line running down to...
So to take a tangent on rudders since the thread is already moving about, what is the best way to set them up on the A? I've heard people talk about getting them straight and about putting 3 to 5 mm of toe-in on them. I've wondered if both ways really are not right and if instead that I...
People want simple boats and are no doubt intrigued by the foiling that the AC boats are doing. Look at all of the blog entries and such on foiling, but nothing is proven on the race course. I think the rules have been really good so far and as Simon notes the class is thriving. I would guess...
this is great and I'm thankful for the promotion of the A Class. We just had a great week sailing in Islamorada in much more typical conditions than the worlds offered. I still don't see how the boards fit into the cases.
Thanks for the report. PJD, do you have to change anything on the transoms to support the rudder vertical loads? Are the plastic clips on the DNA sufficient to keep the rudders down still?
