Malizia's speed over the last hour never got under 20 knots, average 26...
Yet, according to the tracker, 11th hour and Biotherm were even quicker ! That's impressive.
Again, homogeneity of the fleet is incredible.
There is at least one sistership to 11th hour, Maitre Coq. Maybe they can arrange something.
It is quite strange to see the supposedly most prepared boat lose both foils and both rudders in the first half of the race.
Maybe there is no clear speed advantage, but that will be interesting to see the reliability advantage. Guyot most probably broke due to excessive slamming, which in theory should not happen on Malizia.
I would not be surprised to see some boats go in "structural conservation" mode after some...
On the last update, 11th hour shows an impressive 31,6 kts... Does anyone know over what period of time this speed is calculated ? It seems way too high to be 1h average, could it be something like 5 minutes ?
Speaking of which, here is a quick attempt to list all IMOCA teams sites.
I couldn't find anything for Biotherm.

On this page (in french) there are 8 of rhum mono boats described :

The 4 remaining have a less impressive history...
Yes he did, penalty is to be taken during the first 48 hours.
So he's probably doing it now (probably not a bad call, at least in 4h time the currents will be helpful).
Some information in this article (in french). Skipper is safe.
The article explains how the rescue was done, no information about the circumstances of the accident (but indeed this is 179).
According to Benjamin Dutreux (navigator on OTG), they will have foils for TOR.
Article is in french, here is the translated interesting bit :

Maybe Dominique Wavre too ? 7 finished RTW races (4 vendee + 3 whitbread/volvo), plus BWR 2011 (dismasted but it was back in Atlantic).
I read somewhere that Vendee 2013 was his ninth in race setting but can't find the last one.
Edit : 10 times according to...
