Anyone in Barcelona for TP52 regatta able to see if the Cinema(alinghi's ultimate base) is being torn down and/or what's going on with that building currently? Maybe it is tall enough that they are just gutting it and moving inside
They did file paperwork. They didn't pay up. They were already in default by July 31. Russell told them they would be considered a late entry challenger if they ever came up with the money and left them off the official announcement. Nobody wants the S&S, Malta and Dutch drama again.
15.1(a) - a first installment of $1M by wire transfer to ACE is due no later than seven days following written confirmation of acceptance of the challenge.
They are well past 7-days of receiving written confirmation and in breach of the protocol. Stephen is no different than Canfield - all...
I do get it. It's time for them to pay up or shut up. They recently attended a competitors call last month among several other things going on behind the scenes. If you want to play it's time to pay.
"For Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and American Magic, both teams have opted for bases further around the port on its southern flank out towards the imposing W Hotel where viewing galleries and hospitality facilities are planned to watch the racing just yards off the beachfront. The Italians will be...
TNZ - World Trade
Ineos - Imax parking lot
Alinghi - Cinema
Luna Rosa - the new spot by the W
American Magic - MB92
Port - French Team who is turning into S&S 2.0 - either put up the money or STFU
MB92 at the top of your photo is owned by Ernesto's sister or some close relative. This is supposedly Alinghi's top pick for their base selection. It is a big service yard.
Nice curveball by Ineos to take the IMAX. I was told by very good sources a month ago that TNZ was taking the World Trade area, Ineos was taking the Cinema...... IMAX is a much shorter commute for the team members and guests as well as the foot traffic, and better protection from the sea-swell...
I am aware of one team, maybe a second team that are purchasing their HSV through a European company. Supposedly it meets all the specs required in the protocol and still uses the Toyota Hydrogen Power System.
Lots of people do both the Olympics and AC. The AC is taking a break during the Olympics, maybe even a sailing blackout period, so I wouldn't assume that they are walking away from their Olympic dreams. The only reason they may do the AC is because it is next door in Barcelona.
French want to do this on a €30 - €40 million budget, understanding that €7-€9 million is going towards an AC75 build, €2 million towards and AC40 and €2 million towards an HSV. That doesn't leave much left to make oneself competitive.
