Extreme H20 GB6607 Off the market?

I was the project manager for Extreme H2O for the build up until the sale.  NONE of the electric propulsion systems were replaced during its time as Extreme H2O.   The only major replacement were the 2 Volvo diesel generators as they were not EPA compliant.  Volvo paid for that replacement when...

    Handling a 65' cat compared to a 50' cat

How does a Outremer 55 place the soles 18" below DWL?  On a GB66 the max draft below DWL is 24".  If the sole was 18" below DWL the bilge would only be 6".  (not much room for tankage) and the sole width would only be 31".

    Wind Instruments for rotating mast

Hi Paul, the Honeywell systems can be purchased  to work with N2K or analog systems.   The beauty is you should only have to calibrate the sensor once including restepping the mast.   No more string pot calibration or mechanical tiller sensor failure from, leaking, getting stepped upon or ripped...

    Wind Instruments for rotating mast

Depending upon your CPU and whether you need serial input or not, you owe yourself a visit to the Honeywell website to look at their non-contact position sensors.  These are being used in many newer high end builds and once you see what they have to offer, the accuracy of these sensors, the...

    ePropulsion and Torqeedo experiences

For the marine environment, you would be wise to consider a TEWD (totally enclosed wash down) motor.  Then you must consider how to displace the heat generated by the motor.  Let's assume the motor is 93% efficient.  That would result in about 350W of heat that needs to be displaced.  However...

    AC45F Lux for sale

My exposure to the boat was limited to taking a RIB out to it and getting to drive it with an experienced team of 3 crew in place.  Your questions are best directed to specific people at the M&M office.  PM me and I will supply you a email contact. Malcolm

    AC45F Lux for sale

The boats you mention might be dry sailed but it has nothing to do with Nomex cores having issues with osmosis.  If Nomex honeycomb is used in boats, it is generally with aramid fiber paper coated with phenolic resin.  Perhaps you were thinking that the boats were using aluminum honeycomb? BTW...

    GB5508 Rebuild - Soma's Project

So my assumption is that you are arguing that the performance benefits of Prepreg does not justify its additional material and handling costs for some sailboat designs but that you acknowledge that prepreg has higher performance when engineered for known safety factors and a sufficient level of...

    GB5508 Rebuild - Soma's Project

Funniest line I have seen in a long time. If only I had known that all that science and engineering that goes into constructing those things that fly was just “guff”.

    GB5508 Rebuild - Soma's Project

2:1!? By volume or weight?   Carbon or glass? Most carbon race boats shoot for 35 +/- 1% resin by weight in a prepreg laminate.  Are you suggesting that 15% more resin by weight in a carbon laminate is acceptable for a performance boat?  Perhaps I am misunderstanding your statement.

    I am not sure the labor rate was $40/hr nor was the time to build each boat 54,000 hours.  Here is a part of a snap-shot in time that I was supplied;

Regardless of whether you choose Acrylic, glass or polycarbonate as your window material, you should comply with the rules for thickness calculations provided by ABS HSC or ISO/ CE.  Failure to comply with the established rules for thickness places you at risk of a rejected insurance claim...

@ Harryproa... The sheet dump with UpSideUp can be triggered by a large number a infinitely adjustable variables (AWS, AWA, Gust, heel angle, shroud loads...) and can certainly be set to trigger well before hull fly is achieved if that is your goal. Hydraulic dump valves are extremely reliable...

You are correct, dumping 3.3' in 2 seconds is not a huge requirement but it becomes much more difficult when that sheet has an initial load of 8 - 12 tonnes and the person handling the sheet is falling into the cockpit.

Thanks Bruce... I am very much aware and engaged in the SER's for multi's.  The Berumuda safety committee was diligent working with many of the teams that have been active in this segment of the catamaran fleet.  However this is neither the forum nor the correct board to discuss what was or what...

And don't forget how oil viscosity effects flow.  I agree with how the Bermuda race is managing the mainsheet release with the following requirement: 3.33.5  Mainsheet Release: The crew of a multihull must be able to manually release sufficient mainsheet or traveler to the the end of the boom...
