Can't be the fastest if their chase boat can keep up with 2x350s and the Americans are running with 3 - 4 Mercury 400/450s

The boat graphics/paint scheme is pretty cool.

The AC75s do not have the capabilities of self-righting. That was evident during all the capsizes in AC36 training. They stopped marketing that early on in the last campaign when design didn't translate to reality.

unless there was a change in the protocol, 24.2(f) ..... if a New Competitor purchases a Version 1 AC75 Yacht, such New Competitor will be entitled to sail that Version 1 AC75 Yacht for a maximum of 20 Sailing Days between 12 June 2022 and 17 September 2022 subject to the provisions of the AC...

The one you are suggesting Alinghi is taking is the regular cinema in Port Vela. The building is supposedly going to be torn down. The IMAX parking lot is where Ineos is going. The actual IMAX building is not available for teams.

The cinema is a superb location for any team - shorter distance for team members traveling to/from their apartments, closeness to the city for sponsors, a better footprint, foot traffic, non-boat traffic/wakes further inside the port. It is a top spot. MB 92 is inside a working boat yard...

Hindsight 20/20 it was a bad hire by THutch. However, for the Alinghi sailors to get up and running a little quicker, it is probably a good short-term hire for them. DB with Botin and a handful of former AM shore team - they are not starting from ground zero.

That is a TNZ foil on the starboard and an American Magic foil(with the large bulb) on the Port.

I pointed out Dean's return to AC37 w/ Alinghi back in April.

so now we get back to the recon rules. stuff is going to hit the fan quickly if teams feel like they are not getting the correct amount of information from the Recon Group. I am going to bet that teams have a recon person tracking the personnel of the Recon Group

Those foils don't look like TNZ's foils. I wonder if they bought foils from someone else. Surprised they didn't remove the bowsprit while doing all the modifications.

Sounds like the week of August 15 is when they are going to go sailing in Barcelona

Dean is supposedly helping with the "training" of the AC75 that they got from TNZ. He cannot sail for the team but he can get them up to "speed", no pun intended

Shipping delays out of Auckland did create some of the delay. Once you spot Dean Barker in Barcelona you know they are about to go sailing

Like a Richard Gladwell type person secretly hired by a Team to take photos of TNZ above and beyond what may be available through the centralized recon program(or however the protocol worded it). The AC police are not going to pull up alongside an inflatable to ask for credentials. Or flip it...

All 14?  It will be interesting to see if this holds true over the next two years.

I agree.  Personally, it was the article headline that made me knee jerk with was there any competition even there..... It's like beating up on the Little Sisters Of The Poor

was there any competition?  Sounds like a lot of competition was over at the 52 regatta

Alinghi is hoping to begin sailing in mid-July in Barcelona however the likelihood of the base they want to actually be ready is challenging.
