    Is it just me

That’s an old rating for the F22 Endorfin. I have upgraded the rig from the cruising version to the R rig and it has been remeasured and re-weighed. New rating is on the OMR spreadsheet on MYCQ website. FWIW we have raced against the DIAM. we stay with them under 10 knots but over that they do...

    Rocket 48

Couple of good points there LS. As others have said the Rocket is a great concept and we all want it to succeed. If it ends up being an easily rigged and transported boat there’s one hurdle overcome. If it performs well, thrashes WetAs and doesn’t scare the shit out of the geriatrics there’s...

Maybe. I’m only interested in real world race performance not dreamers surmising what they think might happen. Kite foilers are fast but let’s see them win an Airlie, Hammo or Hobart.

    So theoretical bullshit then.

    Spinaker for f boat

I have one for sale from my F22. Made in August and only used in one regatta. .75ounce superkote and 55sqm. I’ve gone to a bigger rig and getting a new one made. AUD $1500.

Running halyards up a rotating mast

Ah the ones not being used. Would be slow for round the cans racing but a good idea for distance racing where quick gear changes are needed.

Running halyards up a rotating mast

Normal thing is inside the mast.

    Corsair/Farrier Anarchy

Spreader length sometimes varies on the same model so I would suggest measuring your own. Two easy methods are - send someone up the mast or if not feasible - tape a stick at right angle to a batten or tiller extension and check it against the spreader. You might have to do it a few times to get...

They cut it up and made 17 WetA’s

Jib versus no jib on A Class, M32... which would be faster ?

Some excellent suggestions above to improve the A cat. Let’s not stop at adding a jib. I particularly like the hiking plank idea and it should be made from natural timber so we can get away from that nasty petrochemical carbon fibre. And let’s get back to timber masts with maybe a good gaff rig...

Jib versus no jib on A Class, M32... which would be faster ?

That’s interesting. It’s slower by going to a jib and extra sail area!

Jib versus no jib on A Class, M32... which would be faster ?

Yes. Hopefully some are entered for the Euros at Lake Garda in August. That would be revealing.

Jib versus no jib on A Class, M32... which would be faster ?

I can’t comment on the M32.  50+ years of development in the A Class by some of the most expert and innovative sailors/designers probably answers your question.

    2022 A Cat Worlds

It’s great to see comments from someone who was actually at the event rather than some of the drivel/speculation of some others here.  The fact is there was a very experienced RO and a couple of very senior and experienced IACA officials providing class liaison. They obviously had to make calls...

    2022 A Cat Worlds

No and no.  The answer is self evident.  The planning and logistics to attend such an event from overseas take about a year. The disruption caused by Covid difficulties and cost and complexity of boat transport have made it very difficult to get to an event. The class and organisers are to be...

    Corsair/Farrier Anarchy

I’m a 1(a) as I lash right to the corner but with the tension up tight when folded. On my weekly unfold it is a little looser in the corner but definitely no hole. That’s on an F22 so maybe a better setup than the earlier designed boats.

A Class Sailing - After 1 year off

Sonofaham your education is seriously lacking. Let me help you. The SA adjective you are flailing around trying to find is “feckless”. A freckle is sometimes found on your face and always found lower down on your aft.  Your use of the term leading is misleading. It usually refers to someone who...
