Depends how they've measured it. But in terms of CdA it doesn't sound far off. The difference between the same rider on a road bike versus a TT bike is around 20%. So if they are comparing Hunter on his road bike versus Ganna on the TT bike, I would be surprised if it wasn't more. But even if...

You are allowed one flap for each wing. But there is no limit on the number of segments. And the segments don't have to be joined in anyway for them still be be considered 'one flap'. That get around the challenges of the last cup where INEOS had to demonstrate that they had one flap either...

It's not explicitly per flag segment. But rule 13.14 which limits the extent to which flap cross section shapes can deform. But that is in the absence of external forces. So you could have multiple hinge axis along segment which only work when the foil is deformed (thinking the bananna foil)...

If you put a 1500mm extension between the mast tube and the MRP, then the mast would extend 1500mm above the the mast upper plane. So, the mast tube has to sit on on the MRP (mast ball).

Mast ball location relative to mast tube and foil arms. Eg... you can only extent the mast below the mast ball.

I mean a virtual pivot point as in one that moves it's centre. I think that's santa cruz terminology for what is properly called a 'instant centre' where the pivot location moves through range of motion. Pivot points, whether an actual hinge like with the W foil, or imaginary point about which...

Interestingly, the W foils were a brackley creation. That's when merc came on board. With the fancy test rig etc. What was contentious about the rules last time was that you had to have two flaps. So ineos, with 4 distinct flaps were claiming that the flexure connecting them was part of the...

With ac75, leq12 and ac40... plus sail GP theirs space for a few helmsman. I'd to that list Iain Jenson, he mixed it with Pete and Nathan in moths. Ben Cornish might not be top tier... but he's won the finn isaf World Cup (prob not far off junior and maloney in credentials). Plus, bleddyn...

With the AC40 class rules now out, I feel vindicated about the points I was making in this video. Section 12 of the rules creates an intermediate where parts can be not rule compliant for racing, yet still in class for the purposes of shoe horning in greater flexibility for testing. I think we...

Like I was saying, the specificity of the 'mast tube' in the Ac75 and AC40 class rule leave space for modifications of the mast, as long as mast tube remains un altered. But for a team with their own LEQ12. For which there is no defined 'mast tube' it then falls to the rules committee to...

Hull volumes. One bulkhead in the middle of the yacht (9m going forward enclosing 35m3 and one in the bow). There is also a limit on how the boat tapers towards the bow. But also space for the foil cant system which position is fixed relative to the mast rotation point. Then perhaps this...

Boat on boat penalties are relative to boat fouled... but sometimes make little sense when boats are moving at different speeds relative to rest of fleet. Boundary penalties are relatively to their own VMC. I think the umpires have the ability to lump on extra penalties if a team gains. But...

it's a surrogate mast ball that attaches to wheels so they can wheel the mast foot as the crane lifts the mast head. Purely for moving the thing about onshore.

Eliminating voids. I wonder if this is standard practice for the AC40 that all teams are doing, or whether it's a bonus mod Magic do? I guess the former if it's public. I was interested in timing though. Whether this was the foil arm they received as a pair with AC40-5... or whether they...

Yeah, it's interesting where the LEQ12 quota is for a 'mast tube', and 'mast tube is a specific part of the mast for both OD AC40s and AC75s (not complete mast). Yet, when it comes to the tow mast that qualified based of a likeness to a 'mast' in it's entirety, rather than specific elements of...
