I would rather have a J/9 than a Capri 22, but the J9 is a bit more than 3x the Capri. The Hobie 33 for $21k is the boat I’d buy if I had to make a decision this week. The A35 or J/105, if I have time to save a few pennies first.

If you google for Express 27 stanchions you will see they worked to get an exemption. Likely impossible with a new design since there isn’t 40 years of precedent.

Also, the Express 27 class allows 12” / 30cm stanchions, vs 24” for everyone else. Olson 25s have 24” stanchions except for the pushpit which is 12” or so.

I should probably add that I’m primarily interested in racing, where low lifelines can be beneficial. If I get a B/SS 27 then it will probably be in cruising mode most of the time and then the taller lifelines would be preferred.

How high are the “low” lifelines? I love the low lifelines on Bay Area Express 27s.
