All that ship and prop stuff seems pretty real to me.
Thing is - this wasn't the approach. IIUC - this was the ship passing in front, to leeward, of the Gunboat - to subsequently turn and take up a new position to windward.
We've got two professional mariners that accidentally collided at sea...
Okay - he said they were making 2 to 4 knots down the waves. Which would seem plenty for steerage and give enough control not to prang the bow of your boat straight into a ship (any captain's nightmare). But, it was a washing machine out there.
And the RM's velocity unknown (to me).
For some...
The captain and crew are far more experienced than myself - but it's my understanding that there was no steerage issue.
The rudders were good and the boat was making way.
Why ram the ship?
Well - my experience is almost entirely on 5 knot sb - but the simple statement that "the ship hit my bow" is kind of tricky.
Typically, the bow does the hitting.

Was it worth it?
and please forgive if it was instead the wife, sister, or mother in law. Perhaps I am reading too much into this...
Another poster on here wrote from his "home" - a big CW Atlantic cat.
I guess he wouldn't be willing to let go so readily.
So, no argument from me. The GB owner wanted to be elsewhere - pronto. Screw the boat. Screw GB. Etc.
Assuming it's worth a million - I wonder how many sailors would volunteer to bring her home?
It's perhaps worth noting that the professional captain would gain nothing by bringing her back. He reportedly already has another job.
If it was your own boat - different story.
Given the owner was...
How much of a problem?
More than a bilge pump could manage - or a bucket?
Unless they cracked the hull hitting the ship - this boat looks likely to keep floating.
bump.
FWIW - "will have it on Monday" is a long standing joke in AC Anarchy.
Clean went on a junket to NZ, and got aboard ETNZ's AC72 - video roiling. Footage promised by Clean on Monday...
That said, his trip was not a complete waste. He was able to produce an advertorial for a prominent...
