I'm not sure this time around- it seems like someone came up with a good way of letting the F1 teams conform with their own cost cutting measures without losing designers, just have some billionaire who's fucking about with sail boats pay for them for a couple of seasons....
As for how much the...
There's been a bit going on in Palma recently with former Alinghi team members (and other non-Alinghi Cup veterans) and some sort of gossip about a 'PBYC' challenge. Not sure if it's related to the latest Alinghi challenge or something separate...?
It would be a great move by EB and his re-entrance into the cup is very unlikely to be a short term commitment - he's played a pretty long game in every class he's entered.
He and the Alinghi team copped a lot of shit for their behaviour but since then the behaviour of many teams and...
not me, i'd heard something very similar to this one;
Whatever happens, someone at Alinghi needs to get their sense of humour together and put a few plastic lawn chairs out on the tarmac....
Sorry, I meant my INEOS source and his choice of LR for the aero package being more a reference to the overall aesthetics of the LR package. Wasn't trying to suggest LR sacrificed performance over looks....
Yes, I saw that interview just after posting that last comment. I did wonder if the choice of LR for their 'aero' was actually more aesthetics focussed, the LR package was very slick looking.
I had an interesting conversation with an ex ITUK team member who said out of all the boats he'd still have chosen the ITUK sail control system (with LR aero and ETNZ foil package). This was a bit of a surprise but it does highlight the importance of integrating every system together succesfully...
I'm assuming that EB plans to use the crew he has assembled from his lake foiling boats? maybe 37 will be a training run and he'll look to get some bigger guns into the team for 38 with time to tick the nationality boxes??
Theoretically is there any way to stop someone like Outeridge being...
That my friend would be telling. I'll go as far as saying it's through channels that include ex-Alinghi team members who are all getting quite intrigued as to what the future might hold....
Latest gossip filtering through is that ETNZ B1 has been purchased (or is in process of) but they won't be employing extra team members until full protocol is released..... presumably if they're buying a hull then they're going to have some extra technical staff on the books already, not sure...
