No, that wasn’t me. But thank you for demonstrating my point.

You are constantly disagreeable and unwilling to listen. I see you have done the same on some FB sailing pages too. To the point where people stop engaging. But whatever, you sail a minority boat on an inconsequential pond in a format that nobody uses, so you aren’t speaking for the masses...

Getting grumpy again? You virtually singlehandedly (see what I did there) killed off the Y&Y forum, try not to do that here too!

Lots and lots of one design classes have changed the sail (plan) shape. Most have kept the same mast though so it is a small change that can be made when your sail needs replacing. The Byte and 49er spring to mind as classes with wholesale changes of rig, but there aren’t too many other examples.

Allen have developed a new class-legal block and have posted on this site that their new block can only be purchased via authorised dealers “due to ILCA class rules”. I’m simply asking why my local chandlery can’t stock it if it’s an approved item. Or, if they do stock it, how do I know they...

Or you could teach me. I understand you are a lawyer and the rules are in your native tongue. And whilst you are at it, perhaps you could explain how to enforce only allowing racers to use blocks purchased from authorised dealers if you allow unauthorised dealers to stock it.

How will this be policed? And how will this work with second hand boats/parts? What evidence can you have of the original dealer? The only way I can see this working is by prohibiting non-approved dealers from stocking the item.

Yes, that’s true. But then ILCA changed the rules of the game. It almost looks like the money grabbing builder has been replaced by a money grabbing CA.

Not sure how it meets the definition of non-discriminatory in FRAND.

It is surely anti-competitive to license the retailers of approved kit. If the Allen block is class legal you should be able to get it from any shop.

What is the purpose of limiting where a part can be purchased from? If the part is legal why can’t it be stocked by any shop?

This is the most accurate and pertinent point in nearly 5,000 posts. I am uncomfortable with ILCA management’s new self-defined scope and the way they went about this coup. The argument that it is for the greater good is not justifiable, after all even Hitler made the trains run on time. Or, to...

Lasers - Applying a Blow Torch

Is IILCACA’s proposed re-wording of the constitution an admission that the last few years activities have been unconstitutional? Might this lead to more legal proceedings? I can imagine a scenario where Rastegar argues that his boats have been banned unfairly from competing despite having the...
