Wow you sound depressed Dude. Seriously reading between the lines it sounds like your 'career' is sucking and brining you down. I am depressed just reading your post.
It does not have to be sailing but hopefully you are passionate about something. Family, fishing, golf, watching your favorite...
Data point on a centerboard.
I ordered a new centerboard from APS back in the Fall of 2017. I want to say it was at boat show time??? APS kept me in the loop with the 'backordered' status and it did finally show up this past Spring. My old board is a little rough but still serviceable so really...
Yes come on Wess you are fucking up this thread by talking about sailing!
Seriously, start a new thread on this topic. It is something I think a lot of us would like to discuss without having to weed though all the other stuff on this thread.
I have not even seen the new sail in person...
^ Well said! It is going to be nearly impossible to beat the entry price point of a used Laser for OD racing.
IF, and it's a BIG IF, a second class such as the RS Aero can get enough traction for several years so that used boats will start to become available then perhaps something might start...
Thanks for the post. Clears things up as I never really followed the shit fight posts anyways.
If Texas was not so far from Maryland I'd join you guys for your Easter regatta this year. Maybe some year...
Well that sucks! I could only follow/have time to read about half of his posts but an entertaining character. And he certainly is spot on for his passion for OD racing.
Did he do a final post and say he was out of here? Did he delete his account?
What??? I don't have crew on my Laser nor do I have a compass mounted. Was my post that confusing?
I was talking about my Buccaneer 18, different boat. It's a two person dingy with jib and symmetrical kite in a forward launch tube.
Gov, You are all over the race course!
So you are only for a digital compass if there is one to be had for less than $100??? I don't know of such a thing? If there was one for less than $100 I probably would put one on my boat just for the heck of it but probably still would not look at it...
Gantt, Hey I use that Ritchie "cheapie" one on my Buccaneer and they work really well, accurate enough certainly for a dinghy. Actually I have two as the best mounting position on the Bucc puts the leeward one behind the mast and Vang especially for the crew. My crew is really good at keeping...
It would not!!! All that would do is add complexity and cost to play the game. There are plenty of classes, like your J24, where you can play with instruments if that is your thing.
What! Good Grief Charlie Brown!
All I want is a class sail for under $300 and made with some quality racing Dacron sail cloth. I guess that is too much to ask?
