Quitting smoking (almost) 1 year in.

It's been years for me, but I still have dreams, and there are times I still pat my pocket looking for that short pack of Lucky's.... It was tougher to quit smoking than it was to quit drinking.

Just keep trying. It's been many years for me now, but every so often I pat my chest pocket looking for that pack of Lucky Strike no filters.....  Once you bust through the wall, you just have to keep going. It's a never ending draw that you just have to resist.

Even non smoker friends said my house didn't smell of tobacco.  Woodsmoke from the stove, sawdust from the shop (which was attached to the house for a long time. ) and cooking smells, but no one ever noticed the tobacco. I only smoked on the first floor, and in the car, I always had the window...

My car, and my house never smelled like an ashtray. Can't say why, but they didn't. My clothes when I came back from a long night at the bar needed immediate attention.

Quitting smoking (almost) 1 year in.

I haven't had a smoke in 11 years, except for lighting up for my wife while we're driving someplace. I hate it now. Smells like an old ashtray even freshly lit to me.  I smoked a pack or so of Lucky Strikes Unfiltered, for 20+ years. Every so often I dream about them.... But, no.  I tried the...

If I could get decent rolling tobacco, I might indulge once in a great while..... But I can't, so I won't.  American Spirit has some good tobacco, but around here, it's all old stale, and dry....  And no, I'm not going to buy it on line..... It has to be an impulse buy that I regret minutes later.

I've quit 5 times.  The last time has been something like 10 years (I stopped counting after 1).  Every so often I get the urge, but then I just put an ashtray near my face, and it all goes away.  My wife still smokes like a chimney, but not inside the house anymore, and I only ride in her...

Cigars are great for gnat amelioration when gardening in early spring..... Gotta be a good cigar though. Guinea stinkers just don't cut it.

Congrats! It's tough. I still pat my pockets when I pass certain landmarks on a familiar drive, or complete certain tasks. Finishing a complex glue-up was always a "sit down for a smoke moment". It's been 6 or 7 years for me (Pack of Lucky Strike non-filter a day), and I do miss the buzz, but...
