Can pretty much recite that scene off heart. The kids today don't know how easy they have it with the internet, when I was a kid all we had was videos and we had to record them from the telly. More than once since the tapes stretched after rewinding and pausing them so often.
Aren't the teams ranked and they get practice opportunities based on that, e.g. The Aussies, Poms and probably the Seppo's don't get to practice as much as say the Canadians.
As for the racing, it was a bit meh maybe? I was a few tins in when I was watching it so might not be an accurate...
I think most of the 60's came with centreboards that where hydraulic, a lot now have been modified to use daggerboards, that would explain some of the cost, since they would have to cut a hole in the deck and put in a case in the boat for the centreboard and get rid of the hydraulic stuffs, but...
Keep forgetting they solo the Ultims what crazy bits of kit they are.
I think he damaged it when the land jumped out in front of him and he went into the cave. Fair enough when you are trying to learn a new boat you don't go full on at first, but if your aim was to break records at some point...
On the Ultim's didn't they reduce the height of the mast because they were running with a reef most the time anyway and thought screw it we don't need the extra windage?
Didn't he bust the bowsprit and decided not to replace it because he wasn't using that much sail area?

Had a look at the automaxx website, there isn't a picture of one of their products on a boat... oh crap I had another look at their site.. there is a picture, it is even more comical than I thought possible... They have a website, but use gmail as their business email address.. That does not...
Was looking at GB's Instagram and saw teh GB60 Moonwave is for sale, was interesting looking at the accompanying pdf file to see how much they have spent over the years... I assume the custom container follows it around the world? The 60's don't look to have that much storage...
That was the thing that made me scratch my chin, sure I haven't checked every user here, but you get to see others posting on various threads but not this user.. I didn't catch onto their nick though, did wonder where they got that from.
All the shite on that site is from what he has said on facebook and what has been said here.
"Those first 6,000 miles have taken a toll. Recent images of Defiant in Acapulco show it looking the worse for wear, with visible hull and sail damage. Some sailing websites report the boat lost its...
Was just thinking, do you know if there was any major breakages? Would expect something to break considering how hard it seems they where pushing, but that would be equally as impressive if nothing significant broke.
There has to be some merc made about ratings, even just a t-shirt with how's it rate? would do ok I'm thinking :D
But it is interesting with the Mod's maybe the foils are seen as a bit of a liability? But weight could be the other factor, though not sure how much weight you could take out of...
The look on his face in this vid tells a story *edit* not the bit with him smiling lol... It is in Italian, but if you look at it on YT in the description there is a bit of an English translation.
Finally getting to grips with the 68 and moving onto building the GB70. Do wonder what it will do to the resale though, win on Sunday sell on Monday and all that.
