God I hope this is a joke. But in case it isn’t:
-NYYC is not a member of the organizing authority for the Newport to Bermuda Race
-The incident occurred at sail Newport
- the incident occurred in a temporary customs station set up by a completely separate government.
I’m 100% for and will keep bashing this guy for his actions, shocking defense of his actions, absurd political views, absurd view on sailing safety, list goes on….
But personal attacks on appearance only lower the commenter to the same level.
I watched about 30 seconds of it and my only thought was wtf are they even doing? This guy has zero business sailing offshore. Can't wait to hear "his side" of why he threw a 2 year in the height chair doesnt want to eat his dinner style hissy fit at 34 years old.
I still can't believe this happened ahahaha what an absolute buffoon to do this in the first place nevermind then posting it to a public forum. Hope this guy can't get a ride for the life of him. Zero respect for the volunteers, OA, US Sailing, Bermuda, etc. "holier than thou"
edit: should add...
Maybe even first in GH. Holy crap did Vlad and Zach sail an incredible race. I was on a much faster boat, finished quite well, and did not pass them until monday morning.
Extremely slow at the start. Two classes AP'd for about an hour. Super variable the rest of the race. Breeze completely shut off within 1 mile of the finish, fleet condensed, and many boats sat over an hour to drift over the line.
This is extremely true. NYYC makes it extremely affordable for young members to join, substantially cheaper than any of the other more prominent clubs and even a lot of local clubs. There are definitely plenty of big money guys at the club but there are thousands of members and plenty do not...
They do feel slow in light air but not awful. There’s very little rocker so it is difficult to get the ass out of the water. I was actually referring to the upper wind ranges. It feels like it should “pop” earlier than it does. I haven’t helmed one yet so I’m not sure how much of that is the driver.
Sailed on the boats a few times. Super competitive racing and a fairly simple boat at a low price point for what it is. It's pretty quick but at times feels a bit sticky.
I'm not a fan of the electronics rules, but I guess thats part of trying to keep the cost down.
As someone noted above, it...
The 122 you are speaking about sailed a great Annapolis-Newport this year. They made the correct choices, added key crew members, and won. Essentially you are saying that their win is solely the result of their rating.
