I wonder if this is just an extension of the CA ban on alcohol stoves used in backpacking. My limited understanding is that they banned any stove that doesn't have a built in way to turn it off, like a valve in a gas stove. Super light weight alcohol or solid fuel stoves are really popular but...
Gotcha. I own two socks but I don't recall either having a wire pennant, but I've also never tried using either of them. They came with the boat and it seemed like a good idea to keep them.
Completely get the short handing angle though.
I use Trinidad and I'm pretty sure Pettit recommends two coats. I always do two coats overall and if there is a bit extra in the can I'll do an extra coat at the high wear areas like waterline, leading edge of keel etc. Even if I'm super careful with the first coat the second "looks" better.
I...
Sounds good, except that the Olson 911 boom isn't all that big and with the purchase for the outhaul and the two reefing lines it's already kind of crowded in there.
Bull, I have a 30 foot boat and went with a 5 inch B&G Vulcan. They no longer make one that size but it's been great. I mounted it on a swing away ram mount in the companionway. However, I often wish I had gone to the 7 inch.
Pokey, as usual, I'm curious what you end up with. I think the factory standard was the 6:1 with no fine tune and that is what I'm running. For my area, it's just fine 95% of the time but I can see where a fine tune would come in handy when it gets sporty.
That looks a lot like the bolts were there already and the new pole base turned out smaller than the old one... and no hammer drill or replacement expansion bolts on the truck...
No, I've never done anything like that before.
It's like their lighting is unnaturally good, there isn't any real background noise (which seems unlikely on a boat in a marina), and their dialog seems really scripted and delivered without much feeling. Very weird to watch and I only made it a few minutes.
I just remembered I hadn't gotten back to you. I've been working through my to-do list this week while waiting for HHN to haul me out. Was supposed to be Tuesday or Wednesday and the boat is still wet as of this morning. Grr.. Anyway, I just got an envelope from the vendor with a pile of blue...
Thanks, I might take you up on that. I checked out their website and it looks like they have the sapphire blue and a dark blue option in both the standard and premium products. Ours is pretty dark so might be closer to the dark blue. Looks like they will send color samples. I may try that route...
@Marcjsmith, I've been meaning to ask, what brand vinyl striping are you using? The dark blue color you have looks similar to mine. I'm debating on replacing mine this haul out.
Also, how much of a PIA is it to do?
If I recall there was a pretty dangerous river/stream crossing that was needed to access it and some people drowned or at least seriously hurt trying to get across. Being a pretty remote location it was straining the local resources to rescue people trying to find it. I think the bus is in a...
