In non class events I have flown an Asym from my normal pole. It works well and very fast in the right angles. You have to reconfigure things a bit but nothing serious just moving some things around and clipping a pully on the bullnose for the tack line.
We clip ours into the bullnose on the bow run inside the rigging with a loop through a car around the aft end of the cabin top then to the stern cleats with a truckers hitch to tighten as tight as possible while wet. We started going to the car on the rail after Safety at Sea training to...
I saw it there too but forgot to get a closer look on our way out as we were messing with the autohelm and it was getting dark. It was big! over 70ft for sure
Odd configuration of winches too. Maybe was set up for single handing. Class specifications definitely do not allow for triple spreader. Cost of replacing the spar is going to exceed the cost of some of the boats available on the market. Also currently the only class approved manufacturer...
This is very disappointing! Hopefully a few more boats from the area will register yet. Big Thank You to the Great Lakes boats making the trip out, as It is a big commitment in time and money to do this.
So does anyone else think the "NEW" CYC Mac Race registration system seem a lot more complicated and not as user friendly as the old system? Kinda feel that they should have taken the track that if it isn't broke don't fix it. I understand that Luiz death put some uncertainty in the formula...
Lady K and they took first in section for Queen's Cup.
Congrats.
Race was a drag race. Two tacks near the finish, started with #2 and quickly changed to #1. Should have stared with the #1 as the wind subsided quickly as we got off shore. Never got enough angle to try out the Asym...
Yeah, it was a bit difficult to navigate. Not sure what SSYC has against YS but given how much it is used on Lake Michigan, registration would have been a LOT easier if they had used YS. That being said, this is still a major steopf forward for them. Now if they can figure out how to score...
