I saw Bad Things at my wife's suggestion (she's a horror fan), streamed on Shudder. Lots of potential and some nice cinematography, but it came across like a film school remake of The Shining, and not in a good way. Unoriginal, predictable, poor character development: 1.5 Snaggs.
I was exhausted yesterday and settled into bed at 8:30, looking for something mindless to watch. My wife had watched The Menu last weekend and it seemed perfect for the moment, so I checked it out.
It met my low expectations.
I liked the central conceit that "foodie culture", taken to its...
So our neighbor bought tickets to the (virtual) Nordic Film Festival and last night we watched "Ninjababy". It was great! Excellent storytelling, character development, acting, and direction.
A rare 5 Snaggs from me.
It isn't streaming on any of the major services yet, so there's no way for...

Summer of Soul: five out of five Snaggs.
No joke. I don't give out Snaggs lightly but this movie earned it. The performances were masterful, each more impressive than the last, as was the structure and editing of the film. This was Questlove's first film, which is unbelievable.
I watched in...
This is one of my guilty pleasures. Another "Ben Stiller got stoned with his buddies and came up with a concept" movie and he had enough clout to get it made.
I was super impressed by the young actress who played Anya's character at age 9. She got me completely hooked before Ms. Taylor-Joy made her appearance (I'm not counting the prologue).
Spike Lee's latest, "Da 5 Bloods" on Netflix is very good, especially Delroy Lindo's performance. I give the movie 4 Snaggs out of 5 but Mr. Lindo's performance is a 5 Snagger.
