Even if he can't participate (don't they have proxies?), he occupies a seat that would probably go Dem if he was kicked out. GOP ain't giving that up unless they have to.
Yeah, but from what I can gather, the GOP is afraid that if they kick him out, the district will go Dem in a special election after all the poo associated with their guy, so they will probably keep him for his term, no matter what the heck he is convicted of.
Are you sure? I need to do some googling. What I think I heard was that him being in jail, didn't really matter...he would still be an elected congress "member" unless they voted to kick him out with 2/3rds.
Most likely none. Each side seems to be voting in lockstep and Republicans have a majority even without the most awesome new member of congress.
Also, according to fake news, and what I should have learned in 8th grade civics, the House would have to vote 2/3rds to kick him out, no matter what.
