I think i prefer the depth sounder. Besides Im not 100% sure its broken. I had the electrics working a little. Enough to get the internal lights, vhf and Seafarer 501 switched on for a few minutes. The stuff in the cockpit did nothing. It could be that they need full power, which I know I wasn't...
If I ripped out the depth sounder id just have a hole in the front of the cockpit. Surely its better to just leave it there until i have something to replace it with?
I have a boat hook. It used to be telescopic until it came in half when I was untangling lines around the mast leaving the top half dangling ten feet up. Was difficult to get it down without it falling in the water. I glued it so it isn't telescopic any more. I don't know how I would have ever...
Neuralink isn't mistreating monkeys. They are doing experiments on them though. If you have a problem with that perhaps you'd like to go explain your ideas to somebody with locked in syndrome. Personally I think that humans matter more than monkeys. But that isn't to say its ok to mistreat...
Im curious about what my anchor was stuck on. It really was stuck fast. It felt like a rope or chain or something because when i pulled at it it sprang back down. I tried everything. Then when the tide had come in a bit I just motored gently forward and it came off. I didn't realise at first but...
I just searched the forum for talk of anchors dragging. Theres plenty of reports of people on here seeing other peoples anchors dragging but it seems that none of your anchors have ever dragged. Congrats.
The anchor held better in a more exposed location with deeper water and bigger waves. It dragged in a place where the water was so shallow that my keel sank into the mud at low tide. I don't see how it could be due to scope. It being set into a slope seems like a better explanation.
No. Im saying that my anchoring probably wasn't at fault because letting out as much rode as you have is generally regarded as the safest way to anchor in a storm.
Id moved from deeper into shallower water because of the conditions. It was so shallow that my keel was in the mud at low tide. But I was at the edge of a channel and the ground where the anchor was would have been sloping. I wonder if that contributed. Sideways pulling could have pulled it out...
Yeah sporadically. My battery ran down half hour ago. Now im back with 1%. I was more worried about retrieving the anchor than recording it. Watching my pull the anchor chain about wouldn't be particularly interesting anyway. I do wish id filmed the aground incident though.
